"Eleven days after his birth, Ms. Wallace took her son to the place that he would call home for the next 20 years, apartment 3L in 226 St. James Place, between Fulton and Washington. Theirs was a spacious apartment, with a large living room, a dining area, a study, and three bedrooms. The one opposite the kitchen on the far end of the hall was Christopher's." [The Life, Death, and Afterlife of the Notorious B.I.G.]

That address is geographically impossible. St. James Place is parallel to Washington, so it can't be "between Fulton and Washington." That said, I live on St. James Place, just a couple of blocks north of Biggie. Word!

226 St. James is between Fulton and Gates, one block east of Washington. (I live one block away, on Cambridge, and used to date a girl who lived on the third floor of 228 St. James.)

Fake gangsta? You can still cop rocks on St. James between Fulton and Atlantic. I don't want to know what the early 90's were like there.

The address of the apartment where Biggie grew up is quoted from a book, "The Life, Death, and Afterlife of the Notorious B.I.G.". The writer must have mixed up the streets if you say that the address is geographically impossible. I've seen the pictures of the apartment, it was a good place to grow up in, lots of space to be playing around as a child.

Are you serious, this was a good place to grow up in? The facade has been upgraded since Biggie lived there.
I grew up in Brooklyn, moved to Clinton Hill 17 yrs ago. That was not a good place to even walk around during the day, drug dealing, prostitution, shooting, ppl hanging on all the corners.
I have two good friends that live over there, it wasn't good over 20 yrs ago and honestly doesn't make my top ten list of CH blocks.
The drug dealers are still there. On occassion they still shoot at each other. They can just buy organic food now.

You motherfuckers are dumb as hell. NYC is Candyland now compared to back then, don't matter how big the apartment was. Probably didn't pay more than $700/mo for an apartment that big in 1990. If you walked around any neighborhood in the city, and you were an unfamiliar face, you better be ready for a scrap.
