I saw the Shins play Coney Island with the White Stripes and they put on a good show. And their albums possess a well-above-the-average number of quality tunes. Do I value or condone them for having not one, but two songs on a soundtrack for a movie starring Zack Braff? No, of course not, I am human. But the tepid response they receive on this website is unjustified. The Shins are a solid band with a unique sound. They will be remembered 10-15 years from now for their creative accomplishment. This cannot be said for at least half the bands that appeared on this year's vegan top-40 albums list.

I still remember Shaq Diesel 14 years after the fact.

I literally feel asleep standing up at the Shins last show. Completely collapsed into the guy in front of me. True, it was late, but it was also the best I've seen them. They've never been fun to watch no matter how much I like the albums.

Listen to their recordings, but go see some other band live that *does* something. Like that Arcade Fire band. They have this Helmet Guy. Everyone LOVES him. Hahaha. He bangs on a HELMET! Then, he *wears* it. Gets me every time lol.

Wasn't Thurston Moore on Gilmore Girls too? Hasn't there been a couple of respectable musicians on that show?

The Shins are one of the greatest bands in recent memory. And there music videos are creative, especially the New Slang (version 2), the pink bullets one (the paper cows) and the penguin one, I can remember what song, but it was amazing.
