UK sensation Mika @ The Box, NYC | pics
I'm a Queen AND Scissor Sisters fan, but I don't get Mika.The headlines:

I was invited to see him perform on Monday at the new (but not officially opened yet) venue The Box on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. I already knew Mika was annoying, but I couldn't resist the opportunity (there was open bar too). It was an invite-only showcase, but they (Universal?) must have invited everyone they ever met because the place was PACKED - not exactly the positive experience I had in the same venue when Queens of The Stone Age played there.
Luckily it wasn't too long before Mika and band took the stage, and I managed to find a somewhat comfortable spot. Three-and-a-half songs in, curiosity satisfied, I left. Maybe I should have at least held out for the gift bag.

Never heard of them, but I listened to the music on their website. They do sound like Queen pop numbers (mainly stuff written by Brian or Roger), but Queen were so much more. Too slickly produced. Meh.

I showed up & they turned me away b/c they said the place was too full, even though I "won" the ticket on MySpace (Christ, I'm so embarrassed). What a crock. I hate these record labels trying to manufacture phoney-baloney buzz through industry showcases disguised as secret shows for fans. At the end of the day, I didn't mind about not getting in so much as missing out on the gift bags & free booze. I've learned my lesson about trying to discover new artists through MySpace. And I hate PR people even more now. So don't be a douche-- don't listen to Mika.

Mika is the best thing ever he wrote these song with his heart. but his songs arent kids cutting themselves listening to depressing music he makes lyrics that could be that but they arent they are happy.. get over yourselves. and ps you are deaf!

Your musical taste can differ from his, but no one can deny he has a great talent and awesome vocal abilities, and charm. Otherwise he just would not have achieved what he has.

To all those who think Mika is annoying...wake up, he's the best thing since sliced bread: beautiful vocal range, interesting artistic vision, great lyricist, great stage presence, very eloquent and well-spoken, and very good looking. If that isn't talent, I don't know what is.

I recently went to a Mika concert and it was the best experience of my life. Not only are Mika's songs and voice amazing but he also puts on a great show. I personally think that he is better live and that's saying a lot because his cd is my favorite cd. It also doesn't hurt that he is EXTREMELY handsome. If mika is ever any where near you, you definetely have to see him. I can't understand how anyone can't like him.
