!!! playing Brooklyn Saturday!!! - Tickets @ Other Music

Chk Chk Chk

Gang Gang Dance is playing Studio B Saturday night, so I assume this is somewhere else?.....:

To celebrate their forthcoming album "Myth Takes", !!!
will play a very special, very small and very raucous rave gig in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The location is special and secret and will only be divulged to those who go and buy tickets from Other Music.

Saturday, Feb. 17 - 11pm-4am
!!! (live)
w/ special guest:
DJ Prince Language

@ secret BK rave destination
very limited tickets available at OTHER MUSIC

FREE DRINKS provided by:
Flying Dog Brewery
Jack Daniels + Coca-Cola Zero

This past Saturday they played a secret show at Maxwell's.

And on a related note, this is like the zillionth "hip" event I've seen Coca-Cola Zero sponsoring in the past month.

this might be a stupid question, but how do you SAY the name of that band?!

Posted by izzy | February 14, 2007 6:40 PM

when do you have to go to othermusic to get the tickets...tomorrow morning??

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 6:43 PM

"chick-chick-chick" is how most people say it. and it's certainly not a stupid question.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 6:51 PM

where is other music located?

I'm guessing Club Europa in Greenpoint. This is a Polish dance club. Really cool vibe. Mountain Goats played a while back, Phonograph played a little while ago and I think Akron/Family are playing there tonight.

Posted by nineteen-ninety-never | February 14, 2007 9:37 PM

ill be at the AF show muahaha

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 9:41 PM

i dont think it's gonna be at a proper venue. it seems more like a loft type thing.

anyway there apparently only selling about 100 tickets or so, but there still are a ton left.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 9:48 PM

how much are tickets?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 9:56 PM

$16.

not bad considering there's gonna be free beer and jack and cokes(zero) all night long. the ticket practically pays for itself.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 10:01 PM

definitely not europa on a saturday night. where are the polish people going to hang out?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 11:26 PM

It's likely gonna be at some dingy type place that's definitely not a commercial place. Should be awesome!

Posted by Dave Park | February 15, 2007 2:33 AM

McCarren Park Pool!

Posted by dave sitek | February 15, 2007 3:35 AM

Sadly, not Europa. Scenic books the room and we are black that eve.

Posted by Robert Johnson | February 15, 2007 4:30 AM

Wow, finally something decent to buy at other music.

Posted by Zenlaw | February 15, 2007 9:01 AM

i doubt Jack Daniels (or whoever the distributor is) would sponsor something at a location that doesn't have a liquor license.
wherever it is... great work with the corporate sponsorship! that's the way i like my indie-rock!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 9:21 AM

what is Scenic? i thought Yalan booked Europa.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 9:34 AM

Wherever it is, it sounds like a blast.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 9:57 AM

maxwell's was a blast. this sounds like a ridiculous amount of fun

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 10:10 AM

"this sounds like a ridiculous amount of fun"

YOU sound like a ridiculous amount of fun.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 10:43 AM

Holy shit, Other Music is hands down one of the best music stores in the country. It's small, yes, but I can't possibly imagine what you listen to that you would hate on OM. What an absurd comment.

Posted by will | February 15, 2007 10:51 AM

i really hope this party goes until sunrise.

1/2 because it would be fun
1/2 so i don't have to walk home in the dark

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 10:52 AM

anyone know if there are tix left and how many you can buy?

Posted by roy | February 15, 2007 10:53 AM

there is no ticket limit...i'd call other music to find out how many are left.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 11:08 AM

FYI, they open at noon...

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 11:13 AM

"YOU sound like a ridiculous amount of fun."
i am.

i am trying to make this happen. had prior plans i am trying to put off...seems like a show not to miss.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 11:37 AM

"not bad considering there's gonna be free beer and jack and cokes(zero) all night long. the ticket practically pays for itself."

is this a true statement?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 11:40 AM

"is this a true statement?"

that depends on how much you can drink.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 11:42 AM

a lot...how does that depend?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 11:49 AM

as of fifteen minutes ago they still had tickets, it looked like about 30-40. they had 150 in total.

Posted by SkinnySlim | February 15, 2007 12:38 PM

def no ticket limit...just picked up 7. the place wasn't crowded at noon but everyone in there was buying a ticket.

Posted by roy | February 15, 2007 12:40 PM

roy, if i have to buy a ticket from you on craigslist, i hope it's at least close to $15.

just sayin.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 1:18 PM

I picked up 3 tickets about an hour ago - definitely still had plenty more (at least 100 i would say)

Anyway, the ticket reads "Free Jack Daniels and Beer" and gives an email address to hit up for the venue

Posted by ciceroj | February 15, 2007 1:20 PM

Scenic is a former venue and now a booking/promotions company. Yalan works with us on shows @ Europa. Any word on where this is?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 1:31 PM

they email you on sat to tell you...
unfortunately i don't have the patience or motivation to sell tickets online. i work the closest to OM and bought tickets for 6 of my friends.

Posted by roy | February 15, 2007 1:39 PM

I got three tickets around 12:40 PM. They were numbers 68-70 out of either 100-150 (I've read both and don't know which report is true, sorry).

Posted by VejGurl | February 15, 2007 1:49 PM

Tickets available at 2pm. It's gonna be fun.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 2:16 PM

Got me some tix.

BTW. Anyone have any thoughts one this?

http://batteringroom.blogspot.com/2007/02/ted-leo-pharmacists-secret-show.html

Posted by Chris | February 15, 2007 2:34 PM

I got tickets. Does anybody know what time they will really go on? I would like to see either the Dirtbombs or Savage Republic play on the same night.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 3:01 PM

tickets were still avail at like 2:45 - my coworker bought a couple and her number was 118. i think they go up to 150?

Posted by rrrroy | February 15, 2007 3:02 PM

a set time would be great

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 3:14 PM

they're sold out - i'm so bummed. if anyone has an extra, please let me know...

Posted by aaadam | February 15, 2007 3:23 PM

The tickets say 10 PM on them. BV's post says 11. Maybe it's doors at 10, go on at 11?

Posted by VejGurl | February 15, 2007 3:25 PM

Other Music had tickets for Diplo @Studio B 3/30. I believe they were $13.

If there's only one DJ & !!! and the show goes till 4, they will probably go on around 12 or 1.

Posted by dave | February 15, 2007 4:07 PM

I doubt they will go on at 11pm. I bet 12am the earliest, but probably more like 1-1:30. It seems like a late night rave/dance party kind of thing.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 4:43 PM

i came for the rave gig

Posted by roy | February 15, 2007 5:05 PM

worrrrrrrd.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 5:59 PM

What is the original source? I want to find out more about the show (I have tickets).

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 6:18 PM

I have an intersection.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 6:39 PM

way to share it with us punk!

I'm still waiting for an e-mail reply from whatever roadie/manager/intern is manning the mythtakes2007 gmail account...

Posted by matthew | February 15, 2007 6:46 PM

sneaky, sneaky.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 7:08 PM

I'll bet it is at Uncle Paulie's. And that means it is a hike from the train, bus and world at large.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2007 10:28 PM

yeah , Uncle Paule's right across from the sewage treatment plant . i love it . no i heard it is by Mcgoldrick park - in some randomo space, i have tix and am also waitin for the intern to email me. see you there

Posted by mike tea | February 16, 2007 1:05 AM

It's just as far from the train as Uncle Paulie's, but that's not it.

I also heard that it was in a random space.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 1:30 AM

from uncle paulie's myspace:

[ UNCLE PAULIE'S ]
$2 beverages! Uncle Paulie's is totally a temporary structure built out of blue canvas and two by fours and plywood on a slab of concrete next to the huge under-construction death star minaret upside-down hot-air-balloon lookin' sewage treatment plant in Greenpoint. During the daylight, men in hard hats eat fried food here. Totally patio, but totally inside! Easy to get to but so far out nobody cares! Noise & djs till the wee hours! $2 beverages! Bring yr ID for the beverages.
-- MYSPACE / DIRECTIONS --> http://myspace.com/unclepauliesnyc

[ DIRECTIONS TO UNCLE PAULIE'S FROM GRAHAM AVE L TRAIN STOP ]
Exit the station onto the corner of Graham Ave and Metropolitan Ave. Walk West on Graham (towards the BQE overpass) for about 6 blocks. Turn right at Meeker St, walk about 4 blocks. Turn Left onto Monitor St and walk four blocks. Uncle Paulie's is on the corner of Monitor St and Greenpoint Ave, on your right. (This is walk kinda sketchy, for the record...). This walk can be avoided by taking the B24 bus towards Queens. Get off just after the Greenpoint Ave Bridge.

I can't decide if I would want it here or if I'm scared that it would be here...

http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=118566437&albumID=0&imageID=2866201

Either way I don't see 150 people fitting in there.

Posted by matthew | February 16, 2007 1:37 AM

What's the capacity at Uncle Paulie's? Warp Records and the band probably have a guest list of at least 30 since its a release party, capacity has to be 200 minimum.

Posted by dave | February 16, 2007 11:38 AM

dude. it's definitely not at uncle paulie's, i can assure you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 12:00 PM

anyone know what to expect from this venue? i've never heard of it before but can't wait until tomorrow night.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 2:09 PM

man this is going to be fun...how on earth am i going to stay up all nite?!

Posted by pollykrome | February 16, 2007 2:11 PM

it's not a traditional venue. i think that's one of the reasons it's supposed to be under wraps. it's literally going to be a rave.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 2:25 PM

its literally going to be a rave? what the fuck are you talking about? its sponsored by coke zero and its 150 people who bought tickets at other music. you think that crowd is going to be on ex and sucking on pacifiers?

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 2:43 PM

as a graphic designer, i can assure you that this venue is not a traditional one, and i can assure you that one would have a good time at this event

Posted by someone who knows | February 16, 2007 2:51 PM

You've only been to raves before 1995? After 1995, TONS of raves here were sponsored and required tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 3:13 PM

Hey

Anyone who is interested, I have 3 SPARE TICKETS AVAILABLE.

If you are interested in purchasing these, post here on this comment page. We can arrange to meet at Other Music.

Enjoy.

according to the email, the band's gonna be on stage at around midnight.

i guess that really means around 1 then.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 3:30 PM

i would love those tickets!

Posted by caroline | February 16, 2007 3:42 PM

J. Clark, I'm interested in the 3 tickets.

L. Li

Posted by L. Li | February 16, 2007 3:47 PM

the email said nothing about what time the band goes on stage. only 11pm-4am. where are you getting your information?

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 3:52 PM

when i sent the email for the venue, i asked what time they were going on.

so in addition to the venue info, they added a note that said "band on-stage around midnight".

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2007 3:57 PM

i have one extra that i'll sell for face if anyone is interested. i'll meet you in the union square area tomorrow. you can email me at skinnyslim@badmintonstamps.com
also, i don't mean to sound smug, but how is this a rave? am i missing something?

Posted by SkinnySlim | February 16, 2007 4:03 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 2:19 AM

awesome set, could have been longer

1/2 the crowd was wildin, other 1/2 was whatever

Posted by dave | February 18, 2007 2:32 AM

Who has the cell-phone pics of my friend being assaulted by the bouncer outside? Need for pending lawsuit.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 3:48 AM

I took the pictures, it looks like you guys are just having a deep conversation about the Coke Zero you were trying to steal. Funny way to end the night.

'That motherfucker was trying to steal an entire case of the motherfuckin Coke Zero.' Felt like I was living in an ad.

Posted by dave | February 18, 2007 8:59 AM

If you were home from the show by 2:38am and already posting about how it was so-so, you missed the point. Dance party was rad, went late. Cheers to !!! for doing something different.

Posted by Barth | February 18, 2007 9:39 AM

so the guy who was trying to steal from the bar now wants to sue them? typical... people are such assholes.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 12:01 PM

i really don't get why people wanted to go if they weren't going to dance...1/2 the crowd was pretty weak.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 12:11 PM

Oh, riiiiiight. If you don't wanna dance, you shouldn't go. Fuck off. Seriously. People can enjoy the show however they fucking want to.

Posted by Brian | February 18, 2007 12:32 PM

Posted by Brian | February 18, 2007 12:33 PM

so telling someone to fuck off because they genuinely can't understand not wanting to dance to !!! is the peak of maturity?

relax, dude.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 1:33 PM

who were the couple of photographers? there were lots of people taking pictures and a few professional looking ones...just wondering where i can get pics of the show, it was craaaazzzzzy.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 1:44 PM

That was a joke about suing them, duh.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 4:37 PM

"i really don't get why people wanted to go if they weren't going to dance.."

I agree. What was worst was some of those people were pretty close to the stage. I wanted to move forward and dance, but I was blocked by all the statues.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 6:24 PM

Was that the TV on the Radio guy there or just someone who was emulating his look?

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 8:48 PM

It wasn't the TV On The Radio guy. It was someone copping his look. I don't know much about the guy other than that he plays in a band called Bloodweiser.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2007 9:37 PM

yeah that dude is my friend and his look def has nothing to do with tv on the radio

Posted by roy | February 19, 2007 10:50 PM

yeah james blood hasn't cut his hair since before anyone gave two shits about tv on the radio.

Posted by clik | February 19, 2007 11:25 PM

well, if your name is michael bolton and then michael bolton becomes famous people are going to make fun of you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2007 4:25 PM

hey, somebody watched office space! good job!

and it's his hair, not the name, that are somewhat similar. someone better photoshop all the old aba pictures of dr. j so no one else makes the same mistake, right?

Posted by clik | February 20, 2007 8:51 PM

James Blood once wrestled a bear to death wearing nothing but birkenstocks.
