Arcade Fire is here ++ more 2007 Tour Dates

Arcade Fire in Montreal | Feb 10, 2007 (CRED)
Arcade Fire in Montreal

Arcade Fire kick off their five night run at Judson Memorial Church in NYC tonight. Tickets were mostly impossible to get, so luckily they're coming back in May for three more NYC nights. May 7th, 8th & 9th are currently listed as "TBA", but my guess is that these shows are at the United Palace Theatre - the seated home of the next Bloc Party shows, and where Iggy Pop is playing too.

Arcade Fire take NYC twice, 2007

02/14 New York, NY - Judson Memorial Church
02/15 New York, NY - Judson Memorial Church

NPR is going to webcast the 02/17 show.

Arcade Fire most recently played five shows in Montreal, and before that five shows in London.

The room was packed with 650 lucky fans, reporters, scenesters, artists and industry types. The wild cheers that greeted the band as the lights went down gave the first sign that this was to be no reserved affair. [Canada.com]
They've been covering the Clash's Guns of Brixton. You can watch & listen to it by clicking "Guns" at the Neon Bible website. YANP also has a bootleg MP3. 'Neon Bible' the new album is out March 6th. You can pre-order it at Insound.

When not playing NYC, Arcade Fire will be busy entertaining CA, GA, NC, DC, PA, MA, Canada, IL, OR, CA, Coachella, and Europe. All tour dates below....

Radio City or Theatre at MSG would be my guess.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 8:33 AM

gyah. this is painful. i work right next door to judson and i see them bringing equipment in...
so close yet so far. . .

Posted by jl | February 13, 2007 8:57 AM

Does anyone know when/how these tickets to the dates not in NYC or Europe are going on sale? I tried the Arcade Fire website, but couldn't find any pertinent info...would appreciate MUCH!!!

Posted by goodtimes | February 13, 2007 9:13 AM

it feels almost cliche to note how much this band is forgettable.

Posted by sam | February 13, 2007 9:25 AM

oh yeah sam? i think you're in the slim minority on that one.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 9:44 AM

I was at the final Montreal show, they did a secret encore in the basement of the venue. I have video of it on on my blog. They were freakin' incredible.

Posted by danieljosef | February 13, 2007 9:52 AM

No credits to Pitchfork? - they broke this news yesterday afternoon!

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 9:52 AM

I've said this before, the last time we discussed Arcade Fire on here, and I'll say this again. If they're playing THREE dates, no way they can sell out anything larger than the Bowery Ballroom...especially after HAVING JUST PLAYED IN NEW YORK CITY. You all are tripping when you talk about MSG or Radio City. This isn't Counting Crows or something...it's ARCADE FIRE.

Posted by Bill | February 13, 2007 9:59 AM

I think the Arcade Fire can sell out one night at MSG.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 10:05 AM

Bill you're a jackass.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 10:13 AM

You are seriously tripping. You all don't seem to understand that bands play SMALLER venues after playing in a city five times. Everyone's already seen them. Simple. For these church jams, I know a load of dudes who are trying to move their tickets for face value, but buyers are scared because of that list stuff. I would not be shocked if these church shows are half, or at least a third, empty.

This isn't some band like W-Spread Panic that is going to mix that ess-hache up every single night. It even said in this post that they're bringing out that tired Guns of Brixton jazz every single night. That thing has been around for, what, thirty years? Tin roof...DUSTY. What I am saying is the crowds are not going to GROW. They are goinng to DECREASE. Laws of economics, man. I $hould know.

Posted by Bill | February 13, 2007 10:15 AM

here we go again

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 10:17 AM

Bill I assume you are joking but just in case you aren't not everyone has seen Arcade Fire and these 5 shows aren't going to help. Judson supposedly holds 600 people there for a total of 3000 people will get to see them over the next 5 nights. They will come back in May after the album is released and does extremely well and sell out much larger venues.

Posted by danfun | February 13, 2007 10:21 AM

Bill seems like a jackass, but he's basically making a good point...

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 10:22 AM

Bill's obviously joking.

Widespread Panic should be the giveaway.

Pretty funny.

Posted by DrJimmy | February 13, 2007 10:25 AM

hahaha bill you're such a fucking idiot.

laws of economics? ahhahahahah.

why don't you put your money where your mouth is if you're so sure? 100$ they play a place bigger than webster.....wanna take my money?

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 10:31 AM

Hey, Bill. I guess the Arcade Fire should open up for the Counting Crows if they want to sell out Radio City, huh?

Posted by MusicSnobbery | February 13, 2007 10:35 AM

Hey Bill, I guess the Arcade Fire should open up for Counting Crows if they want to sell out Radio City, huh?

Posted by MusicSnobbery | February 13, 2007 10:39 AM

Irving. You heard it here. I feel it with every fiber of my being.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 10:41 AM

Danfun: the key word in your post is 'supposedly.' Just like you are supposedly 'fun' but more clearly a nerd with a messiah complex when it comes to making prognostications (how could ANYONE know if the new album is good...it hasn't even BEEN RELEASED and we have not heard a SINGLE SONG), your numbers are what they call 'fuzzball math.' It just does not add up. End of story.

Second story begins now: to the high roller who wants to throw a $100 bill (no pun intended) into the pooper. Obviously I am not going to take cash from someone who has proven they are 1) dyslexic (it's 'hahahahahahha,' not 'ahahahahahaha' unless you are making a discovery) and 2) wonton with his or her money. If you knew anything, you'd have that money Rothen' it up in your IRA right now. You need to make that cash work 4 U. THAT'S simple economics, Greenspan. Also, I don't like to bet with people who make anonymous postings on bulletin boards. It's like, how can you trust a man who wears a belt and suspenders, if he can't even trust his own pants? I don't trust your pants (if you are even wearing them).

The proof will be in the pudding, though, and that pudding is going to be three sparsely attended Arcade Fire shows at the Bowery. As for this bulletin board, I must bow out -- my lady, the business world, calls. Also, I'm sick of all this yazz.

Posted by Bill | February 13, 2007 10:48 AM

It must be said that musicsnobbery has a rapier wit! First posted with an ironic name, and then showing that he is truly a musical snob. The Counting Crows would WIPE THE STAGE with Arcade Fire. It is like my beau said: 'Win Butler? More like LOSE Butler. I would rather spent an evening with BRETT Butler, or BE a Butler, before I listened to the new Arcade Fire.' I don't feeling as strongly as he does, but Duritz and Co are a tough act to precede.

Posted by Bill | February 13, 2007 10:51 AM

Bill you seem like a prety funny guy no sarcasm intended.

Posted by danfun | February 13, 2007 10:55 AM

Anyone want to be my new best friend & hook me up w/ a ticket for tonight or tomorrow?

Posted by ami | February 13, 2007 10:56 AM

Bill,

"Wonton" is a dumpling.

So, point taken: You won't take cash from someone who is a dumpling with their money.

Good luck in that "business world" of yours.

Posted by DrJimmy | February 13, 2007 10:59 AM

Bill is right-on. A couple of my friends were shooting this around over some margaritas yesterday. Put your money on the Police, people. They're gonna blow through the fucking roof on the concert circuit this year.
Also, I like this Lily Allen. She's hot. Did you guys catch her at Webster? She's doing good numbers. Arcade Fire? Whatever. They're cute for Canadians. I know people who got burned on trying to import the Tragically Hip 10 years ago. Not going to make that mistake again...

Posted by rick | February 13, 2007 11:01 AM

THANK YOU, Rick. Do you all remember that song by KRS-1 that went 'Woomp woomp, the sound of the Police, woomp there it is?' Well, that is what it is going to be like this coming season: 'Cha-ching, that is the sound of the Reuninted Police with the whole original line-up.' Woomp there it is, indeed. I think that anyone who waits too long on getting tickets for this on is going to feel the Sting from scalpers who are looking for Fields of Gold.

Good analogy with the Tragically Hip. It turned out they were more the former than the latter, eh?

Now I truly must attend to my Business. But Rick, I would definitely be up for meeting for margaritas and talking about some Real music. The people who are posting here probably don't even remember what an 'arcade' was, and probably think that 'fire' is a flavor of Gatorade.

Posted by Bill | February 13, 2007 11:08 AM

Bill, kindly bow out like you promised 3 posts ago.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 11:15 AM

Bill, I definately feel you. Adam Duritz is an unnapreciated legend. But the Arcade Fire is great too, their live songs just dont give the punch that counting crows songs do. Anyways, we'll all see who comes up on top when the crows release their Fifth studio album this year. O, wait, pitchfork won't review it. my bad.

Posted by Rob | February 13, 2007 11:22 AM

I know what an arcade is. I played Asteroids and Galaxian (pre-Galaga).

I also know that Bill's joke has "jumped the shark" because I watched that Happy Days 2-parter WHEN IT PREMIERED.

ABC, Tuesday nights = Heaven.

Posted by DrJimmy | February 13, 2007 11:22 AM

Are you guys fucking kidding me? Bill is hilarious. How fucking stupid to do you have to be to not recognize that as a joke?

Keep arguing with Bill, guys. As long as you even bother to refute his shit--he wins.

Posted by Greg | February 13, 2007 11:24 AM

Have there been any reports on how long the sets have been for their recent shows and if there are any openers? I'm debating taking the train in from NJ tonight to avoid driving in the snow but I need to gauge whether I can actually get home.

Posted by MP | February 13, 2007 11:32 AM

Bill is so freakin' classic.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 11:33 AM

Bill is so freakin' classic.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 11:33 AM

The sets have definitely been shorter than 90 min. Maybe 75 min. at most??

Posted by DrJimmy | February 13, 2007 11:35 AM

It's going to be 3 nights at Hammerstein.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 11:53 AM

they're in washington sq. park playing right now. i work across the street.

Posted by Moses | February 13, 2007 11:59 AM

I am in the same Weather situation. What time do you think they will come on at?

Posted by Supafly | February 13, 2007 12:04 PM

Hey Moses. I just went to Washington Sq Park - no one is playing.

Posted by ami | February 13, 2007 12:22 PM

I went too, no one playing. sad

Posted by a | February 13, 2007 12:30 PM

as much of a putz as Bill is, don't we all secretly hope he's right? I mean, I would love to see Arcade Fire (if I decide to see them) at a 2/3 full Bowery Ballroom one of those three nights, much more than putting up with the fiasco that is to be the next 5 nights at judson...

but we all know those sleazy booking agents will put them at Webster or MSG Theater where none of us would go by choice anyway

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 1:10 PM

They're playing in Bill's corporate office RIGHT NOW! And he's right, half the office walked out to go buy Counting Crows Greatest Hits and drink Jamba Juices. The show is pretty good though, so far I like the new songs. I'm psyched to see them again on Saturday and will go check 'em out at Giants Stadium or Mercury in May.

Posted by SkinnySlim | February 13, 2007 1:16 PM

Bill makes me chuckle. That is all.

Posted by matthew | February 13, 2007 1:45 PM

Is there any opener planned or do you think Arcade Fire will begin shortly after 8? Also just trying to get an idea for train schedules.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 2:07 PM

Someone said they were releasing additional tickets the days of the shows, but I haven't heard anything more about this. Anyone else?

Posted by Benjamin | February 13, 2007 2:27 PM

There is NO opening band.

And bowerypresents has been telling everyone that they're NOT releasing tix on the day of the shows. That's something they DID do in london, but I guess there was never a plan to do it here.

Posted by DrJimmy | February 13, 2007 2:39 PM

Bill is Patrick Bateman

Posted by mat | February 13, 2007 2:47 PM

I called the venue yesterday. They indicated that any additional tickets would be released on the day of each show at the box office.

Start forming the line now, I guess.

Posted by Zenlaw | February 13, 2007 2:48 PM

Well if you want a gauge. They are playing two nights at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. This is a small outdoor "theater" not unlike the Greek in LA. So, figure there are ~ 800,000 people in SF, 900,000 in SJ and 600,000 in Oakland. You can see that with 8 million in the boroughs its not going to be at the bowery or some other crap mentioned here.
I could see them doing a theater at MSG (not the arena) for three nights.

Posted by Joe | February 13, 2007 2:48 PM

Arcade Fire was not at WSP. A few of them (no Win) were over at the Hudson River Park with a couple of guitars and accordian, but police made them leave.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 2:50 PM

So they've been going on at 8 in London and Montreal? The whole thing is over by 9:30? I bet lots of people show up at 9.

Posted by Joe | February 13, 2007 2:53 PM

Bill's a sad little troll. The whole album was leaked at the end of January. Everyone I know has heard it, and really likes it.

On the NPR website it says the live broadcast will start at roughly 8:30pm, so I'm assuming that's when they will go on.

Anyone read the Sasha Frere-Jones review in this week's New Yorker magazine?
http://www.newyorker.com/critics/music/articles/070219crmu_music_frerejones

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 2:58 PM

What's this about them playing at Hudson River Park?

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 3:01 PM

FYI:

Arcade Fire Live On NPR!

Wednesday, 07 February 2007
In just over a week, Arcade Fire will play 5 SOLD OUT shows at Judson Memorial Church in New York City, their first US dates in well over a year. NPR 's All Songs Considered will be webcasting the final show of the 5 night run on Saturday, February 17th. The doors for the show are set for 7:30, so expect the webcast to start around 8:30 EST.

http://www.arcadefire.net/

Posted by Christopher | February 13, 2007 3:01 PM

Ticket confirmation e-mail states 8:30 pm -- I believe doors open at 7:30 pm.

Posted by Blind Boy Grunt | February 13, 2007 3:02 PM

anyone know what time Arcade Fire starts?

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 3:10 PM

I just called the box office and they said there were no tickets available for any of the shows. If they're making any more available my guess is it will be announced at the doors at the last minute, to avoid being swamped.

Posted by Benjamin | February 13, 2007 3:44 PM

I was at Hudson river park we followed the band from the venue. the police didnt like the portable heaters

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 5:08 PM

My god enough with the Police

they reached their prime. its over

let it go

Posted by m | February 13, 2007 7:54 PM

beyond the next five nights, what's most important is PRE-SALE INFO (???). I presume this will warrant its own post; consequently, this news/entry/thread is worthless.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 8:10 PM

"beyond the next five nights, what's most important is PRE-SALE INFO (???). I presume this will warrant its own post; consequently, this news/entry/thread is worthless."

i concur.

Posted by m | February 13, 2007 9:07 PM

tickets available at the door!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 11:58 PM

showed up at 715, waited on line, got in for 29 bucks. no ticket. good stuff

Posted by m | February 14, 2007 12:34 AM

waited for about an hour and got in. apparently they had close to 60 tickets at the door and the church wasn't even that packed out as it could have been. bring your own drinks in your bag. but you can drink in this church!

Posted by Brian | February 14, 2007 12:41 AM

Bill Fucking Owns.

Posted by DOUG | February 14, 2007 9:59 AM

Are cameras allowed?

Posted by Scott | February 14, 2007 11:50 AM

Yeah, but... what's this I hear about a new Counting Crows album? HAHAHAHAHA

Posted by sadclown | February 14, 2007 2:14 PM

i think the only reason that "Bill" is so succesful is that there really are people around here that really ARE that stupid......so it's not really that funny that people take him seriously...we're the ones who are used to fucking idiots on here. He really doesn't deserve any credit whatsoever, and he's not funny in the least....he just is cluttering up a usually already stupid commenting section.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2007 2:41 PM

Anyone know who is opening for AF on the May dates?
