Calexico, The Allen Room, Paste party, Neko Case tour dates

(after) Calexico @ The Allen Room, NYC | Feb 8, 2007 (CRED)
Calexico @ The Allen Room

The above picture was taken after one of Calexico's "two American Songbook" performances @ The Allen Room in NYC last night. Sufjan Stevens played there last year. Neko Case is playing there February 23rd - which may or may not be related to the fact that Paste Magazine is hosting a "secret show" at Knitting Factory on February 22nd. Beck played at Paste's last secret show.

Paste show is likely the Shins. They are on the cover this month and have the 22nd open.

I don't think it is Neko or The Shins. It says that it is two artists on their Top 100 Songwriters List:

Dude, it's friggin Paste magazine, what do you expect? they are morons--don't get so riled up about it.

Posted by Pete | February 9, 2007 4:21 PM

Exactly. Nothing wrong with Sufjan Stevens--he is talented, but the 47th best songwriter in the world? Absolutely not. These people are retards.

Posted by Frank | February 9, 2007 4:25 PM

Well, can you imagine Tom Waits at the Knitting Factory? That would be something!

Posted by Guava | February 9, 2007 4:26 PM

Have you even LISTENED to Sufjan before????

Posted by Justin | February 9, 2007 4:31 PM

I agree with Frank, Sufjan is the man! But 47th best living songwriter is a little much.

Posted by JJ | February 9, 2007 4:33 PM

How can you include Sufjan on the list, but leave Morrissey off?

Posted by Lela | February 9, 2007 4:37 PM

Duh . . . Robert Smith?

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2007 4:39 PM

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. you indie sheep crack me up. Sufjan Stevens is obviously not in the top fift living songwriters. But who gives a crap---why waste you time arguing about some stupid list. SHEEP!!!!!

Posted by M&M | February 9, 2007 4:41 PM

Iggy Pop, Michael Timmons, Johnny Lydon, Richard Hell. come on guys. we could make this argument all day. Sufjan should not be on the list--and a lot of other peeps should. we know--so relax.

Brandi Carlile was a last-minute addition to the Paste Magazine show @ Knitting Factory...I think she impressed a few people there with her covers of "Creep" and "Hallelujah"...check her out if you get a chance.
