I feel like I'm still in the dark ages because this blog doesn't have little links at the bottom of each post that allow you to add the page to del.icio.us and/or Digg.

Do you:
a) agree I should implement that ASAP.
b) have no interest in it.
c) have no idea what I'm talking about.
or
d) What does this have to do with the Arctic Monkeys?

i would vote b!

people 'heart' you so much that they don't need a tag of some sort to remind them to come by and say "hi, how are you bv?"

I add to del.icio.us sometimes to save links that I *know* I'll want to go back to (as opposed to bookmarks in my browser -- there are too many of them). And it's more of an incentive when I know it's something worth sharing with others.

I haven't fully begun using any one bookmark management, syncing or sharing solution for myself yet, but I'd like to.

But if you really want to enhance exposure, there is every reason to add those button links, including the newer ones from Facebook. Many people do use at least one of the above. There are many people who don't post links, but do read links posted to del.icio.us/digg/Facebook and elsewhere.

I have a feed reader and subscribe to all del.icio.us posts with the tag NYC. In fact, I saw your site come through today on that feed. Wondering if that's related to your question.

So "A" i guess

Posted by Mike Lewis | February 13, 2007 4:44 PM

b x10. You've totally got yr own thing going and don't need del.icio.us or Digg links.

Those links are absolutely useless. I use delicious but my tag button is on the toolbar. And I just dont think brooklynvegan is the type of thing i'd see on Digg's frontpage... it's all garbage like "TOP 10 INSANELY AMAZING SECRET MAC APPLICATIONS WITH BONUS UBUNTU HACKS AND NINTENDO WII ACCESSORIES!!"

Posted by Chris | February 13, 2007 4:49 PM

the correct answer is:

f. add more semi-naked women to your site

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 4:51 PM

B

Posted by D | February 13, 2007 4:51 PM

"f. add more semi-naked women to your site"

Because finding porn in the internet is pretty difficult.

Anyhow, I vote B. No need.

Posted by klaus_kinski | February 13, 2007 4:53 PM

i'm going with C, and therefore B. if it ain't broke...

Posted by lewislfowler | February 13, 2007 5:02 PM

i'm with klaus. F. semi naked.

I think music blogs should add digg buttons, simply because I feel like music doesn't receive enough coverage. Wouldn't it be nice if you could head on to digg and find out the new Voxtrot album has dropped and that you can hear an mp3 from the album?

Posted by Jeff | February 13, 2007 5:05 PM

B.

If someone wants to digg you, they can digg a post without a stupid little link shortcut.

Posted by jerry | February 13, 2007 5:06 PM

no digg, maybe del.icio.us.

digg is mainly populated by tech, world, and business stories. Most of them are either breaking news ("Anna Nicole Smith Dead") or feature user-generated content ("How To Crack HD DVD"). Most, if not all, of your content is second-hand and reprinted. And you really don't add any personal commentary (aside from comments about a particular show or if you think an album's any good).

you could add del.iciou.us tags on any post you supplement with loads of photos or any post that serves as a list (like your year end list where you posted your favorite albums).

I like F. It's a good option.

He didn't say porn. it doesn't NEED to be porn...... :>

Posted by otis spunkmeyer | February 13, 2007 5:09 PM

I don't use 'em. I know some people swear by them, but I've never seen the benefit. It might help drive traffic to your site, which I'm sure you're not averse to.

Posted by Steve | February 13, 2007 5:16 PM

B. I think alot of us don't want this site flooded. Unless it helps you out.

Posted by Brian | February 13, 2007 5:23 PM

B. I use your RSS feed, don't need the other stuff.

Posted by dave | February 13, 2007 5:35 PM

D cracked me up. :)

But my answer is B.

I think it's super easy to bookmark a page using the del.icio.us button in your browser so I don't really see the advantage of having a link for each post.

B ..RSS is enough for me.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 5:59 PM

I think the answer is based on what your ambition for growing the readership of this blog is... if growing the readership by hook or by crook is what is important to you, then I would say "why not?" to making links into Digg and delicios easier. I doubt it will make a material difference to the growth, but why leave a stone unturned?

HOWEVER, when I see those links on blogs, I tend to think it a bit crass self-promotion. Besides great content, you have forums like blog radio that extend your community in a way far superior...

Posted by douglas | February 13, 2007 6:05 PM

I'm partial to B, as a defensive NYer that wants to keep the good stuff my own.

Is there a way to exclude links for things like "secret" shows and presale codes? I don't want the whole world fighting for the same stuff.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 6:09 PM

Those buttons are mostly superfluous, and only add clutter. Anyone who would want to add a post to their del.icio.us bookmarks already knows how, and probably prefers their method.

So I s'pose that's a B. I'll be at digg reading wii accessory news if you need me.

Posted by Tony2Nice | February 13, 2007 6:09 PM

b

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 6:17 PM

as someone who uses Digg on a pretty regular basis, I agree with the above comments that Digg buttons are fairly useless. Anyone who wants to add one of your posts to a Digg story can do so pretty easily by copying and pasting the url. so, B.

As long as you're asking for comments on your tech implementation though: your RSS feed (at least through google reader, haven't tried it through bloglines or anything else) is pretty much unreadable to me. Unless you're setting your posts in a way thats intended to drive traffic through to your site instead of using an RSS feed, you might consider talking to a tech-savvy friend of yours and getting him/her to update things so that people can see pictures and mp3 links on their feed. just a suggestion though.

Posted by imw | February 13, 2007 6:24 PM

I say a. i would implement them on my page, but blogger hates java.

Posted by disaster | February 13, 2007 6:50 PM

Digg - no
del.icio.us - yes

There are many reasons for doing del.icio.us
tagging and searching - starting a network
finding out info by subscribing to like minds
links. tag clouds, etc

Posted by mark | February 13, 2007 6:51 PM

I started using del.ici.ous. and found it totally pointless. i think you're fine.

Posted by Anonymous | February 13, 2007 7:04 PM

You may just want to add the del.icio.us to the sidebar or something. I have it on my blog, because I just started mine, and any clicks I can get are helpful.
Your site is pretty damn popular, and the del.icio.us button makes it easier for some people to bookmark it. I have del.icio.us on my firefox toolbar, so I don't need site buttons.
Digg might be a waste of time too.

b. i hate sites that troll for digg or del.icio.us links. any active del.icio.us user has a toolbar or a quicklink bookmark installed and could send a post on your site to their account just fine.

don't bother dude... at this point, I think your word-of-mouth exposure is more than enough (i.e. you're doing a great job).
