Does that make me crazy? -- more Grammys, Kidz Bop
Are the Grammys so screwed up that they're not even worth talking about? Fuk it...
The Dixie Chicks won five top awards

Not suprisingly, the headlines look like this today:
US makes nice to Dixie ChicksNow the world knows that America really DOES love those crazy chicks. Gnarls Barkley fan Bob Lefsetz is not amused though:Defiant Dixie Chicks fly high at Grammys
......you take the most left-leaning act in recent memory, with an album that half the country REFUSES to listen to, and you give them ALL the awards. Smart.Even if Gnarls Barkley didn't win the award they should have won, at least they were still nominated - not to mention they won "Best Urban/Alternative Performance" AND "Best Alternative Music Album" (AND got to perform). Heartonastick writes:.....I heard 'Crazy' for the first time a block from my house. I RAN from the garage into the house to download it. I streamed 'Not Ready To Make Nice' (Dixie Chicks) once on my computer, and I haven't played it again SINCE!
TV on the Radio’s widely acclaimed Return to Cookie Mountain didn’t even get nominated. Nor did Final Fantasy’s He Poos Clouds. The song “Jesus! Take the Wheel!” got three nominations, two wins.TV on the Radio didn't win any indie Plug Awards either - the major label signees weren't even eligible! Neither was Gnarls Barkley.

the grammy's are such a bloody joke, obviously the expectedness of the winner is not even worth complaining about because it should be expected that at this point in time in the show's history, the majority of the time, shit is gonna win. who even knew the dixie chicks came out with a new album? and honestly, who really cares?
goes to show how shitty this country's taste is as a whole, good ol' predictable crap!! woohoo!! its just a joke of a show to watch. if you're gonna judge chart-topping music, be more eclectic and surprising with the winners... give viewers something to actually ooh, ahh, and understand WHY the artists won!!!
snore show!!! justin was good though. at least he thinks.. outside of the box! hehe

Rick Rubin! Rick Rubin!
How does Luda beat out TI? I like Luda but TI's record was so heads and shoulders above Luda's this year. Of course Game Theory was just ridiculous but I thought TI was a sure thing for Rap album of the year.

Nobody gives a shit about The Grammys anyway except for major label drones. I say why not give everything to the Dixie Chicks as a giant middle finger to Clear Channel and Cumulus Media while we've got the airtime? It isn't like Gnarles Barkley was going to say anything anyway...

The Grammy's are definitely a joke... but perhaps the TV on the Radio album didn't win because it's overly hyped and in actuality a pretty big disappointment.

i agree with 'k' - Ludacris over T.I. and Lupe??? wtf. Screw Gnarls Barkley - Justin should be the one feeling cheated.
But Jacques Lu Cont won! that's pretty awesome.

I was impressed that Mastodon was nominated. They did not win, however...

Totally agree on the TV on the Radion album (thought that I was the only one). I really expected amazing things after the stunning originality of the first EP, but I feel like they've taken big steps backward. That said, they're still pretty great and hope they continue to progress.

Yeah... it's not they don't have loads of talent, but I felt a little let down by Cookie Mountain. I know a lot of people like it, which is fine, but I'm just not feeling it.

is anyone else disturbed by that kidzbop thing?

Awards are for losers.

Ditto on TVOTR. Young Liars was incredible, Cookie Mountain not so much. I am surprised and relieved to see people feeing similarly.
Congrats BV on the award, though. Did you get to give a speech?

Yah, agreed on the creepiness of the Kidz Bop thing. I remember sending that around to everyone at work when we got the single in awhile ago, and didn't get any reaction... glad to hear someone else feels the same way.

Dixie Chicks. Ughhhh. Shouldn't they be opening for Celine Dion in Vegas or something?

Why slag on the Chicks? I'm not a fan of their music, but they took a heap of shit for basically speaking their minds. Heaping awards on them is the industry's way of an apology that the bulk of them didn't have the nuts to defend them when they should have. Besides, since when did the Grammys honor anything other than the blandest AOR anyways?

I don't even really know the Dixie Chicks music, but I think "Not Ready To Make Nice" is a good AOR song with great lyrics. It's personal, heartfelt and honest. I'll take that over "hip" any day of the week.

I agree with Anonymous above. "Ready To Make Nice" is a good song. The Dixie Chicks are some of thebest musicians I have ever seen and if you listen to their music and ever see them play, you will see that.
I know some people hate bands that sell more than 20 copies, labeling them as not "hip" but in this case, I feel the success is justified.

Eh, it's the Grammys. There really can't be that much shock and outrage over them. For God's sake Milli Vanilli won a Grammy!
"I think the Grammys are nothing more than some gigantic promotional machine for the music industry. They cater to a low intellect and they feed the masses. They don't honor the arts or the artist for what they created. It's the music business celebrating itself. That's basically what it's all about."

I freaking love The Dixie Chicks. Yeah, I'm a girl, but I happen to know my male roommate secretly digs them too. If anyone in that horrible collection of nominees actually deserved Grammy's it was The Dixie Chicks. James Blunt? Ack. Justin Timberlake? Okay, maybe. I admit it, he's got talent.
Did anyone else see the Dixie Chicks on Howard Stern back in May? They were pretty hilarious.

All of this Dixie Chicks drama is grist for my songwriter's mill, starting with this Dixie Chicks dissin' dittie:
Merle Hasn't Lost His Fightin' Side

Then came:
Playin' Politics with the Dixie Chicks

and now, after swearing they were Not Ready to Make Nice, I wrote and recorded this:
Not Ready to Make Rice

Bring it on, Dixie Chicks!
