Klaxons | 2007 Tour Dates, NYC, Coachella + album

KlaxonsThe latest news with the Klaxons is that NME has gone ahead and overrated them again - a 9/10. I still like them, but I'm not sure their new album Myths of the Near Future (out March 27 here on "Geffen subsidiary DGC Records") is a nine. I can't even say for sure if the Klaxons are "the most thrilling and visionary band Britain’s had in more than a decade". Plus, their live show wasn't that amazing. This is NOT "BACKLASH" though - just sayin' NME is a bit cuckoo. Here's what Idolator has to say:

If you've ever wondered just how the overheated British bible maintains its status as an innovator in pumping up bands until they're ready to pop, this Alex Miller write-up--which gave the album a 9 out of 10--is a pretty good primer; not only does it name-drop Damon Albarn, Aleister Crowley, and Buzz Aldrin, it tells both history and trustafarians to fuck off.
I'll probably still go see the band again when they get here - especially since I'll know their songs a lot better than last time.

Klaxons are touring in April before Coachella. They play Bowery Ballroom (April 10) and Studio B (April 11). Tickets for Bowery go on sale at noon. All dates below...

vegan didn't feel the klaxons show 'cause you need to be on at least 3 Class A/B drugs to fully understand it - true story.

Really looking forward to seeing them play. The album is pretty great, and I think NME have got it right this time. And the "New/Nu Rave" term was coined by Klaxons themselves, not the NME.

this is getting ridiculous....the only way to get tickets to anything now is to live in front of your computer.

You Boston folk are so lucky -- getting to see Bowery Ballroom acts the day before or after we do at tiny Great Scott; I went to see iForward, Russia! there in November on a business trip, I love that venue...

stop rushing and head down to the box office later this week.

Posted by Anonymous | February 8, 2007 12:43 PM

in one years time everyone will HATE this album. its nice to see bands making music with a 7 month lifespan.

Posted by Anonymous | February 8, 2007 1:03 PM

i don't know about that head to the box office sruff
i have regrettably tried that and then had to pay 100 dollars to see a band that was charginh ten a head.

spend the extra 3 dollars of surcharge. cheers

Posted by Anonymous | February 8, 2007 1:32 PM

it'll sell out.

Posted by Anonymous | February 8, 2007 1:34 PM

it'll sell out. guaranteed.

Posted by Anonymous | February 8, 2007 1:35 PM

I was just able to order online without any traumatic experience

Posted by Anonymous | February 8, 2007 1:40 PM

I was lucky enough to have a friend give me the album and its pretty good. I am not sure if its a 9 out of 10 but its definetley worthy of a strong review. I think it will surprise most of the people that are expecting this band to be overhyped....I am with the anon above that said NME have got this one right this time. Judge for yourself when the album comes out

As per having enough time to stroll to Merc and get tickets, I don't know about that. I would not be surprised if this show sells out sometime soon...as in today.

"its nice to see bands making music with a 7 month lifespan."

It is nice, at least to me. Pop is all about living in the moment. Whether something will sound good in seven months or seven minutes from now is irrelevant. The Klaxons are a pop band, just listen to Golden Skans for evidence. They sound great now, I don't care how they sound in seven months time.

Some of my friends saw them at Studio B when they first came to the states last year and had very positive things to say about them.

Heck, evn productshop (one of the few blogs from the nyc area which I respect as much as the vegan) gave them a solid review:

"I was lucky enough to have a friend" period

"in one years time everyone will HATE this album. its nice to see bands making music with a 7 month lifespan."

What an idiotic way of looking at music. (And there are many people who look at it this way.) In my experience, if something sounds good to me now, it will most likely sound good 7 months or 7 years from now. I still enjoy songs/albums from the 80s and 90s that very few people remember today. It's completely irrelevant if people hype it now and forget about it later, if the band never makes it big, or they become one of the most popular bands for years to come.

definitely just ordered my ticket.

the new album "myths of the near future" comes out march 27 in the US and it rules. go out and buy the album or you can actually purchase it NOW on Itunes.

oh yea, for all you peeps who live in CA and can't see them at Coachella, go seem them in san fran. their itinerary shows them only for san fran and coachella, but rumor has it they will be doing a "secret" LA show.
