John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats on the other hand recommends the Boz Scaggs classic, Silk Degrees (starting at 3:42 of this YouTube video)):

I'm not sure if it'll be any good, but Money Mark (Beastie Boys) has a new full-length out tomorrow.

...i'm curious about the Money Mark, because it is supposedly a pop album. i always liked his guitar-driven poppy stuff, but it always seems to take second place to his groove stuff. also, the rhythm section on the Money Mark includes Carol Kaye on bass and Jim Keltner on drums. i'm gonna buy it...

Yeah.. I've heard the single "Pick Up the Pieces", and it's... okay. Pretty poppy with a little extremely faux-electronica in there. Not bad, not great.

...i bought it. it's a big dissapointment. considering how sharp his hooks were on songs like "tomorrow will be like today" on the second album, this is tepid surfer pop. ugh...
