STREAM: Sparklehorse - Don't Take My Sunshine Away (real)

Sparklehorse

From one anonymous, yet reputable tipster:

30 from the capitol side and 4 from the virgin side.
And from another:
Word has it that one of the things they are doing (as of last week) is relaunching Caroline Records which will handle foreign rock projects, creat a company called Internationally Known which will be foreign pop stuff and Astralwerks will remain running but only focus on foreign dance/electro type stuff. Though Errol who pretty much created astralwerks will no longer be there. So in other words part of this new label is three ex-US music labels that will focus on three genres and be the label for EMI acts outside of the US to be released here.

Sparklehorse was also dropped from Astralwerks. The only US band i heard that's remaining on there is vhs or beta but that may have changed in the last week.

can't believe errol is leaving astralwerks. Nicest record-industry guy I ever met. I wish him all the best.

i think he was let go. i heard he passed on a few too many really great bands the last couple years. that might be part of the reason. nice guy though for sure

Sparklehorse sucks. How can you put such a blatant "Dear Prudence" rip off as the lead track to your album? C'mon fellas.

Good riddance to unoriginal over produced crap. When I heard their "Dear Prudence" rip off as the first track to the album, I quickly reached down between my legs to make sure my balls were still there, afraid they may have disappeared just by association.

I hope this doesn't impact DFA's arrangement with Astralwerks at all.

"why the fuck wouyld they hang on to VHS or Beta? might be the worst band on the label"

BECAUSE they are managed by the guy that started astralwerks in the first place...

there you go.

brian long started astralwerks? oh wow, news to me.

Errol is indeed a nice guy but he didn't start or create astralwerks by any means. the original head of the label was peter wohelski during the so-called electronica era. he signed chemical brothers, carl craig, i think he even had richie hawtin for a spell...

Peter was third dedicated Astralwerks person hired.

VHS OR BETA is being retained because they are the label's best selling domestic signing and they are in the midst of recording a stunning album.

sounds like someone is in the Vhs or beta camp. we'll see about that one.

Who cares that Errol was fired. He was stoned all the time, and screwing the sluts that worked at EMI. He did nothing except walk around red eyed and glazed. Overpaid and no brain.

Vhs or Beta puts on the best live shows period.
I have seen everyone from Fugazi to Paul Van Dyke (im all over the board) but vhs or beta just rocks it every time.
