The Police in NJYou know they know all the dates already, but they're gonna force us to go through this anyway. LiveDaily reports:

"It looks like The Police reunion tour is a big hit with fans: All eight markets that have gone on sale so far have sold out, according to organizers.

The August 1 and 3 gigs at New York City's Madison Square Garden sold out this morning (2/20) in 14 minutes. Back-to-back shows July 28-29 at Boston's Fenway Park also sold out when they went on sale today. Last weekend saw immediate sellouts in Toronto, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec; and Vancouver, British Columbia, prompting organizers to add second shows in those cities, according to a press release issued by promoter Live Nation....

...Another New York-area gig has also been added--August 5 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ--as have June shows in Los Angeles and Oakland, CA.

So, once the shows all sell-out, how about a media-wide moratorium on any further mention of The Police? We'll need some breathing space before the next round of frothing to precede another re-animated, over-hyped, over-priced dinosaur band that also hasn't released any new material in decades; Genesis.

genesis reunion is nothing without gabriel.

at least the police is all original members.

Genesis is nothing without Peter Gabriel, period.

Genesis post-Gabriel from '75-'77 produced some classic prog as good as any material in the band's canon. And their live setup at the time of dual drummers Phil Collins/Bill Bruford or Collins/Chester Thompson was sheer dynomite.

Genesis without Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett were a pop group not prog. They lost pretty much all their creativity and became boring just like Yes and ELP in their later years. The Police were never a great live act. I saw them 3 times and were never that impressed although I loved their records.

completely agree with all comments. I saw the Police also and wasn't impressed with their live act.

drewo
well 75-77 were at least with hackett which was still pletty good but not as good as with Gabriel.
After 77 Hackett left and they were no long the band of old.

Giants Stadium tickets go on sale this Monday at 9 AM. Also, guess who is opening? Fiction Plane? Why is that relevant? Joe Sumner (Fiction Plane's frontman) is Sting's son.

why no chicago?? third biggest city in the US and they're not hitting it?

This just in................"The Police Blow"

Heh, I remember when Fiction Plane came around here (they played the Mercury Lounge) Joe Sumner allegedly didn't like to discuss the fact that Sting's his pop because he allegedly wanted Fiction Plane to stand on its own or something.
