As previously mentioned, Jared Van Fleet of Voxtrot - aka Sparrow House - is in NYC. In fact, Sparrow House plays with Andrew Kenny of American Analog Set and James Levy of Levy at Mercury Lounge tonight (Feb 13, 2007) (something to do for those without Arcade Fire tickets).
Last week (Feb 6) Jared was my guest on Sirius "blog radio". He picked 24 songs for the show - we only played 23 of them though. Sirius was worried that "before I leave" by Fennesz might leave some people thinking their radio were broken. It's a beautiful song, but I can also see their point (sounds like a CD skipping). Another song Jared chose was by Ennio Morricone. That worked well with our conversation about the Radio City show that Jared was lucky enough to attend just a few days earlier.
Jared is also in an Austin music collective called Tonewheel. A bunch of the other songs he chose were by other members of the collective.
We started the show by playing some Voxtrot and Sparrow House tracks, and ended with the Voxtrot/Massive Attack mashup that you can download above. Jared's whole playlist below....

the show two weeks ago at union hall was lackluster. he's not really a live act.

love you BV, but who made that dumb mashup? It's like...so insulting to mashup "teardrop" or any sacred, sacred, sacred massive attack song with voxtrot. And I even like voxtrot. I am deeply offended by this mashup--just gotta speak my mind.

I thought the Union Hall show was pretty good -- and the one before it back in November was fantastic. I'd say he's a good live act and I'm pretty excited about the ML show tonight.
