WOLFMOTHER!!!

this band was sent to this realm to save your of your indie-rock souls from Colin Meloy.

however i dont think they can save you from the grammys.

to protect yourselves from the evils of the music industry i suggest drugs and alcohol...that's both not either/or...

I heard that. I'm gonna tell my girlfriend and she is going to beat you up!

Did anyone else think the Red Hot Chili Peppers' performance was terrible? I think it was the worst performance of the night and that includes the Eagles cover band.

The Police performance was a joke...Didn't anyone one notice Stings backing vocals doing the Chorus? Please...I would think audiences are too savvy to put up with this crap..Sure Boyband pop you expect it to suck..But please! Give the Rock audience, If there still is one some respect!

pure crap. it's official, duck and cover folks. it's all over.

Grammys=Irrelevant

christina aguilara is trying WAY too hard...she was ridiculous.

mary j. is the reigning queen of r&b, and the world.

the chili peppers were really disappointing. i think the problem was based on poor song selection. their performance lacked everything that has come to define rhcp...no energy.

i can't stomach country music, but that underwood gal has got a killer set of pipes, and she ain't bad to look at either. i think she's got a long, successful career ahead of her (if she can ever escape that american idol demons).

i glad that john mayer if finally playing meaningful music and getting props for it. i was really impressed by his last album.

Meloy's still a god in my book...

The Grammy's were terrible, but "Hips Don't Lie" was awesome...I must have rewinded it 20 or so times.

And where was Paul Simon's nomination? Surprise was fantastic.

Mayer was good

The Grammy's are a joke. I look at the winners list and ask myself if we lived through the same year. Irrelevant corporate swill with no bearing on justice or quality.

Wolfmother is a joke. if you want real heavy rock, check out Earl Greyhound

Posted by FrixFrixFrix | February 12, 2007 11:35 AM

the grammys are a joke 98% of the time...the execption being the approx. 29 grammys given to The Beatles...

Too many people are out there knocking the Grammys, saying, "They're a total joke. Except for ____"

Most people reading this blog will agree that the whole Grammy institution is shit, but we have to therefore discount it in its entirety. Just because a few decent acts receive an award here and there doesn't give legitimacy to the show. We need a total boycott of the whole ordeal, and we have to start hoping that some brave soul will decline one of these lame awards soon.

Two redeeming performances were Smokey Robinson doing "Tracks Of My Tears" and M.J. Blige's smoking rendition of Lorraine Ellison's "Stay With Me". The fact that she sang it almost like the original (no Diddy sampling cameo or some shit).

Also, why the hell did the Police do one song (poorly) and Justin Trousersnake 3?

Bah.

People who read Brooklyn Vegan on a daily basis are NOT the target audience for the Grammys. Casual music fans with middle of the road tastes are, and they outnumber BV readers by a whole lot. I'm cool with that. The Grammys aren't totally worthless. They may not really mean much in the grand scheme of things, but watching the show every year does offer a good sampling of what most of the people in this country are listening to, and for that I find it valuable.

And sure, a lot of it sucks, but so does a lot of indie stuff. Much more than most care to admit, frankly.

thankyou anonymous, i think ur the only person on this blog that doesn't have ur head up ur ass. Indie listeners shud fuckin lighten up, god. Yes we know that you don't listen to the mass produced music out there but, hey try not to bitch about it all the time.

I thought the Christina Aguilera performance was jaw-droppingly incredible. I had no idea.
