The Police tickets on sale @ 9am

Tickets go on sale @ 9am for the two NYC Police shows. How many do you think they'll add when these sell out? It happened in Canada.

Below is a video (thx Josh) from their rehearsal/tour announcement last week:

I experienced unusually long wait time with ticketmaster.com, which said the show was sold out as of 9:02.

yep - i got sold out at 9:06. Hmm....

Given how fast they sold out, I'd think they would add more dates at MSG.

Searches for singles were coming back positive until about 9:15. I got one really good one for the Wednesday show at about 9:15.

It still laugh when I think about the last interview I saw of them. Sitting back stage at a picnic table and Copland was like "would you like to see me kick Sting's ass".

They sound pretty good.

when do you think we'll get info on more dates?

I totally blanked on this! I sure as hell hope they add more.

As of 9:03, doubles were sold out. I got a crappy single at 9:06.

I officially could not care less about this. And it's mainly the ticket situation that pisses me off. Sold out in minutes? I hope everyone realizes that the vast majority of those tickets were sold to users who used scripts or shills who front for "brokers".

I love e-commerce. Love it! But can't stand the way 800-pound gorillas like Ticketmaster have not done much of anything to discourage scalping.

And heck, online ticket buying encourages this crap because it puts Ticketmaster in a position of being techincally "not responsible" for what their buyers do with tickets.

I propose a posting of Police-tribute band concerts for those of us who want the nostalgia, but don't want to deal with the bullshit.

hmm. someone sounds a little upset he didn't get tickets. some of us did get tickets, and we're not brokers.

they'll be back at the garden circa halloween

yeah, i forgot about the Halloween shows at MSG. any word on when those go on sale? and are they even confirmed?

i pretty much decided that this was not worth it when i read in jon pareles' article about the reunion that andy summers' guitar is a replica of the one he used on tour, complete with all the nicks and stratches of the authentic original.
how vegas-y.

Jealous? No way. But going to shows never used to be this hard and this unfair. And even prime tickets that I bought without the aid of a "broker" didn't sell out this quickly or cost this much.

Pay $100 for the privledge of joining a "Fan Club" that gives one access to a bulletin board, newsletter and—oh yeah—the non guaranteed opportunity to buy tickets before everyone else?

When I went to see The Who do a reunion tour back in the 1980s it simply was not filled with this much B.S. and financial investment. And back then at least The Who were closer to their prime than The Police are at this point.

And that rehersal video only confirms the worst. Sting can't let go of his nauseating smooth jazz stylings and the vocals are just annoying. The same thought popped in my head when I listened to the 1980s incarnation of The Police on CD versus the 1979 version of the band.

It's just not going to be that fun. And I honestly think there will be more enthusiasm and genuine nostalgia at a tribute band show.

hey jack - BV posted about a police tribute band playing the canal room this spring - I checked out their site and they sound pretty good - sure to be none of sting's jazz/new age/renaissance fair overtones that night and the ticket is sure to be around 20 bucks or less

Definitely agree about Sting's singing style on the above video: smug and punk just don't mix.

The only interesting reunions to me this summer are Crowded House and Nickel Creek. Even though NC just broke up it would still be great to see them together any time they choose.

yeah, i think i'll just go see "stung," the s.f. bay area's own tribute band. these guys rip.

Lets put it this way: In a recent episode of the "Office" at Phyllis's wedding, there was a tribute band that only played Police covers -- I think they will have more enthusiasm then the aged-beyond their years- sting.

It is funny how ridiculously expensive these reunion tours have become: -- I found out about the tour from a Police Ticket Broker blog of all places. The ticket brokers are providing me with latest news now .. wow, well I guess they have as much incentive as anyone else.
