videos: Bloc Party talking about the new album | Part 2
One of my favorite bands of this century, Bloc Party, came out with their second album Weekend in the City last week. So it was without hesitation that I agreed to take part in this series of "the making of" posts - courtesy of VICE Records...

Recently we found out what Bloc Party's Kele Okereke thinks about the White Stripes' Jack White. Clicking on one the below video streams will have you suddenly hearing (and watching) what Kele and Gordon have to say about one of the tracks on the new Bloc Party album. For instance, did you know that "Clay" in "Song for Clay" is based on the character in the novel Less Than Zero (aka Andrew McCarthy)?
Naturally, the songs are also playing in the background - think "director's commentary". Pitchfork started the series off with track 2 - "The Making of 'Hunting for Witches'". Here are tracks 1, 3 & 4:
VIDEO STREAM: "track 1 - Song for Clay"
VIDEO STREAM: "track 3 - Waiting for the 7:18"
VIDEO STREAM: "track 4 - The Prayer"
Stay tuned for tracks 5-11 both here, and at Pitchfork.

NME is streaming an entire bloc party concert this week, as well as letting the band edit an online portion of its website... pretty good stuff.

"Weekend in the City" is their best but it needs time to absorb, after another new spin you start to realize its power.
Ps. Music is always personal.

Clay in the novel and Clay in the movie share very little in common other then the name.
In the novel he is gay/bi and is doing drugs throughout the novel and doesn't really give a shit about much.

Does anybody else here think the new record absolutely sucks? I WAS a huge fan of their ep's and silent alarm, but the new record is unlistenable to me.

I agree, Zoviet. This record is absolute garbage.
