Yikes $40 for Vak Dyk...guess I'm glad I saw him for free numerous times at Space in Miami.

Hopefully we get some good artists and reasonable prices for the RATM show when the release comes out on Monday.

Posted by MBF | March 23, 2007 7:37 AM

ugh, shitty shows.

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 7:54 AM

Yawn. Slint playing Spiderland at Webster Hall on 7/17 and 18 is going to blow all of those shows away.

Posted by Joe | March 23, 2007 8:02 AM

Usually the Voice annouced the date for Siren at the end of March. Wondering if it will be during the Pitchfork festival again.

Didn't Slint sell off their instruments after their last reunion shows. I went to one of the reunion shows. Nothing special.

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 8:54 AM

wow, what a crappy lineup.

Posted by Ryan | March 23, 2007 9:28 AM

I'm planning to see Ralph Stanley. Definitely.

Posted by Brian | March 23, 2007 9:34 AM

BV have you listened much to Morley? She's like the voice of an angel....

this summer will be HARD to live up to last...for free we got amadou&miriam, tv on the radio, stars, celebration, FEIST, nevermind all that stuff we got at the pool. And I dont even count the 30 dollars i spent on BSS as actual money cause it was just a piece of my *SOUL*

Posted by pretty girl | March 23, 2007 9:34 AM

as far as siren goes... coney island is being demolished pretty much as we speak so ive been wondering if its happening at all? no really look at the pictures, prepare to be bummed out

Remember this is a very small fraction of the shows. Yes, not too exciting yet...but...

Posted by jb | March 23, 2007 10:28 AM

Apparently New Pornographers may be playing one of the River 2 River shows? Neko doesn't play every show with them, though, does she?

Posted by Freepster | March 23, 2007 10:35 AM

Patti Smith and her band at Hiro 4/18

Posted by Lisa | March 23, 2007 10:40 AM

any rumors of wilco playing an outdoor show?

if not, let's start them now....

i really hope wilco plays an outdoor show this summer.

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 10:46 AM

i love u more than matzah pizza

Posted by thigh master | March 23, 2007 10:48 AM

I hope Siren has a decent lineup this year. I'm sure that it will happen, even if Coney Island is being under construction or whatever... Siren is in the street, it's not like the park needs to be open for it to happen.

Also, the Bang on a Can Marathon was awesome last year. Definitely check it out, even if you don't know most of the artists - last year there was some really impressive stuff.

And, are those pool shows in Brooklyn happening again this year?

Posted by Paul | March 23, 2007 11:09 AM

"Patti Smith and her band at Hiro 4/18"

How is April 18 classified as a summer concert?!?

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 11:11 AM

Sirenfest: Saturday, July 21

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 11:12 AM

"Booker T. Jones & The MG's"

Shouldn't that be simply Booker T. & The MGs? Wow, I wonder what the lineup will be.

"Sirenfest: Saturday, July 21"

Posted by rescueblues | March 23, 2007 11:48 AM

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 12:13 PM

Gee, I hope Priestess plays Siren again this year.

Posted by Steve | March 23, 2007 12:13 PM

No band has played twice. I hope the "tradition" continues.

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 12:43 PM

yeah, the pool show's are happening again. they're done by jellynyc

Carolina Chocolate Drops @ River to River--could be the sleeper show of the summer, if you are into Old-Timey.

They are quite impressive...a Black Old-Timey band from Western North Carolina.

not to be missed!

^^^ best summer concert news yet. Just listening to Television's "Marquee Moon" last night - now there's an LP worthy of a ATP-style full album performance.

Posted by drewo | March 27, 2007 12:26 PM

I just wish the concert wasn't free. I don't want to deal with a huge line of unemployed hipsters that merely listened to Marquee Moon after they downloaded it from bittorrent. A paid show would have been much better.

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2007 12:43 PM

what's the difference between listening to an album off bittorrent as opposed to listening to the cd? it's the exact same thing.

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2007 1:10 PM

The point is that *real* fans buy the album and buy for concert tickets. The lack of a cover charge means that even casual fans will show up. The worst is that mainly unemployed hipsters will show up.

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2007 2:22 PM

what about the mccaren pool shows? shouldn't they be listed? i thought you posted that info in another post but maybe not....

Posted by Anonymous | March 29, 2007 12:17 AM

Why is there always an idiot who tries to make others believe they know so much about such-and-such band and that they're true fans while everyone else are just "posers"? Please, grow up and stop being a teenager-like snob.

wood brothers are playing a free show at Madison Square Park this summer.

Posted by joe | April 5, 2007 3:41 PM

these concentration camp like shows are not fun, body searches, ripoff priced amenities and then the joy of standing in the sun for hours through a bunch of openers who are friends of someone who suck...yeah its free but the security staff is always so overzealous messing with the white kids..I may not have to pay cash but the price of being degraded by Summerstage is too high. EVERYONE IS A CRIMINAL!!!!

Posted by jim hildreth | April 6, 2007 9:51 AM

how does someone really like the hold steady *and* daft punk? that's like someone siding with the palestinians and israel (c) high fidelity

search deep within you, my friend. you're only pretending to like one of them.
