2007 Pitchfork Music Festival - tickets & initial lineup
The Pitchfork Music Festival will be three days this year - July 13, 14, & 15. Friday night is in conjunction with ATP, and this is pretty cool:
In an exciting fusion of forces behind festivals from opposite sides of the Atlantic, Pitchfork will team up with the UK event All Tomorrow's Parties to present a bill dubbed DON'T LOOK BACK. The Friday night lineup will highlight legendary rock, rap and experimental acts, each performing one of their classic albums in its entirety."The 2007 Pitchfork Music Festival will present more than 40 acts on three stages over three days." First announced acts: CAT POWER, CLIPSE, IRON & WINE, GRIZZLY BEAR and PROFESSOR MURDER (all scheduled to appear Saturday, July 14) and OF MONTREAL, GIRL TALK, JAMIE LIDELL and KEN VANDERMARK'S POWERHOUSE SOUND (set to play Sunday, July 15). Tickets on sale Monday.

who cares the daft punk tour is official!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think im gonna cry

siren sucks lately. they get weak bands and the sound is shit. saturday looks better to me than sunday but I'll be at all 3 days. BOO YAH

Well Ryan Schrieber has moved to Brooklyn so maybe someday we too may have a Pitchfork Fesitval of our very own. I think Siren's decline might coincide with Pitchfork's decision to have a festival because they've lured all the big indie bands there.
By the way, I think BV just scooped Pitchfork's main page with news of Pitchfork's own festival.

If Sonic Youth is doing Daydream Nation, I will walk to Chicago to see it.

great - can't wait for months and months of "news" updates about the festival. luckily pitchfork breaks it up a bit with those "chicago intern wanted" items. those are real thinkpieces...

NMH on Friday.
Posted by Anonymous | March 9, 2007 12:44 PM
you can't just say "NMH" without further details. FOR REAL? I thought everyone was kidding with the JAMC reunion posts, so I'll believe anything -- be gentle.

I saw footage from last year. When they showed the crowd, it looked like someone at the station had paused the footage. Maybe their backpacks were too heavy.

If Neutral Milk Hotel plays, I am so there.

Daft Punk is one of the ones not yet announced
also, the info on this site came from Pitchfork's own podcast, which announced this yesterday.

Last year Pitchfork got a bunch of acts after praising their most recent breakthrough albums, (Art Brut, Tapes N Tapes, Barnhart, Etc.) if this suit is followed you might expect Menomena, Brightblack Morning Light and Deerhunter. Perhaps TV on the Radio. Now, on with the unsubstantiated rumor spreading.

ATP have been doing the Don't Look Back concerts in London for a few years now. This year the bands are:
SLINT - SPIDERLAND
SONIC YOUTH - DAYDREAM NATION
HOUSE OF LOVE - FIRST CREATION LP
They've also got a Don't Look Back stage at the Primavera festival in Barcelona where the line up is:
SLINT - SPIDERLAND
COMETS ON FIRE PERFORMING BLUE CATHEDRAL
MELVINS PERFORMING HOUDINI
SONIC YOUTH - DAYDREAM NATION
So I guess any, all or none of them could be playing at Pitchfork.
