wow, sick lineup besides brother ali and cage. sucks that its at randalls island though

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 2:02 PM

who wants to bet that at least one shooting occurs?

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 2:17 PM

that line up is flat out incredible.

[who wants to bet that at least one shooting occurs?]

Ha, that's the first thing I thought of when I read the line-up. Definitely a shooting or stabbing. I was amazed at the lack of security last time I was at a show on Randall's Island.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 2:41 PM

where's Ma$e?

Posted by ag | March 26, 2007 2:45 PM

shows tonight? anything?

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 2:51 PM

A shooting/stabbing? Come on now kids...take the racist undertones somewhere else. This day will be awesome.

Posted by Drugs Delaney | March 26, 2007 3:14 PM

Drugs, every comment that has negative implications is not necessarily racist. In this case, I happen to agree about the shooting/stabbing comment. Truth is a lot of bands on this bill have had many occurances of violence at their shows. Black, white, whatever. That's immaterial. The facts are facts. Many of these bands have histories of violent occurances in their crowds in the past - FACT. Now they are all being thrown together in 1 venue that traditionally doen't have much of a security presence - FACT.

Deal with the facts and don't make this a racist issue.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 3:23 PM

Ahmen,

LOL. Drugs I hate to be a hater, but they speak the truth. The crowd that these bands attract on Randall's with probably about 40 rent-a-cops equals at minimum a bunch of fights, if not the aformentioned shooting/stabbing.

it's gonna be a rough show but a great line up.

Posted by PJ | March 26, 2007 3:28 PM

which bands on this bill have a history of violent incidents in there crowds. 95% of this bills core concert going audience is white suburban college kids.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 3:31 PM

the only fighting that will go down at this show will be between drunk bros. no different from any big music festival.

99% of the crowd will be there to just have a good time and won't let any of that get in their way.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 3:39 PM

Party on! gonna be a great show! although there are bound to be a lot of "yo, what you lookin at" type drunkin tough guy frat boy fights.

Posted by JJ | March 26, 2007 4:07 PM

I'm bringing my flak jacket just in case.

If I pay $150 and get a VIP pass, does this qualify me to smoke a blunt with Method Man?

Posted by MARLOW | March 26, 2007 5:05 PM

THANK YOU.

A) Which bands have a history of violence at shows?

The Roots? No.
RATM? No...unless you're talking about some mosh pit injuries.
Cypress Hill? Stoners...no.

Saying that these "bands have a history of violence at their shows" can not be backed up by a single one of your "FACTS"

B) Light security at Randalls Island? Maybe...but does that mean there will be more fights than there were at other festivals...say...Amsterjam (didn't see a single fight there last time)?

So why say there is bound to be a shooting/stabbing? The fact that you lumped in these underground hip hop acts with violent gangster rap is complete nonsense. If the bill was 50 Cent, The Game, and others that rap about violence/hoes/bling/killing for a living, I might be more inclined to agree with you. But the majority of these hip hop acts couldn't be more different. The comment might have been said for another good reason (and I'm all ears), but I'm just saying it screams racism and prejudice.

Posted by Drugs Delaney | March 26, 2007 5:06 PM

Looks like Drugs Delany is a festival promoter or something! Don't worry man, any stabbings wont take away from your cut.

Posted by Mika | March 26, 2007 5:25 PM

Nas is only doing the SF show.

Posted by brad | March 26, 2007 5:28 PM

This is not a race thing and that is ignorant of you to think that from the previous comments. Why did you just jump to some crazy conclusion? What are you Chinese or something?

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 5:29 PM

I posted this earlier in the highline fest section but it should go here.

Hahaha that vip ticket for the Rock the Bells show is a complete ripoff. Firstly, anyone thinking that the vip area and supposed party is going to be backstage or involve any of the artists is smoking crack. It will be some tent off to the side somewhere with a bar where you get 2 free drink tickets. The backpack and poster and laminate will be cheap of course. What a joke. Good to see RATM coming back just in time to fight corporate greed

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 6:10 PM

i love how all of def jux has everyone on the label playing this except for the two people care about...el-p and aesop.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 6:19 PM

is there a chance this will sell out at $80 a pop? do i need to worry about buying a ticket on friday?

Posted by MBF | March 26, 2007 6:20 PM

depending on what part of the island they are holding it on. I'd say if its where the cure played it will sell out for sure. that area held 45,000 people and with this being the only east coast show for rage it will be a trip for many from surrounding states.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 8:22 PM

does anyone know if MF DOOM is playing new york?

Posted by chris | March 26, 2007 9:03 PM

Is "What are you Chinese or something?" supposed to be funny? Because if so, man, your sense of humor really sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2007 9:26 PM

If it's anything like most hip hop shows I've been to, leave it to the white kids acting like their stereotypes of black people to start the violence.

Posted by Slush | March 26, 2007 10:23 PM

^^word

Posted by howard | March 26, 2007 11:57 PM

Slush, they're called ginny's.... white kids acting like their favorite black stereotypes that is

Posted by Jesus | March 27, 2007 12:01 AM

can we forget about the violence for a minute and get back to the fact that this is a ridiculously cool lineup? they really didnt even need to do it this big, what with Rage at the top of the bill.

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2007 11:46 AM

2 shootings, 3 stabbings, 2 missing kids, 1 rape, X number of sexual assaults, 19 summons for underage drinking, 0 arrests for pot

mmmm good

Posted by lost boy | March 27, 2007 12:14 PM

All I have to say is dope X 10.

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2007 6:42 PM

presale starts at 10am on ticketmaster, code: GUERILLA

Posted by MBF | March 28, 2007 7:48 AM

yo does anyone know if DOOM is gonna be at the nyc show

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2007 10:04 AM

no nas or mf doom at randalls island.. sucks a LOT. those were the two i was most excited to hear about, and since the initial lineup didnt clarify who was playing where.. huge disappointment. oh well.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2007 11:08 AM

Service charges are $14.05 for Randalls Island show, bringing total to $97.05...

Posted by MBF | March 28, 2007 11:46 AM

Anon 11:08, where did you hear DOOM isn't performing NY? If I had to guess, aside from NAS, it will go mostly based on home bases, i.e. The Coup and Hiero will play Cali, DOOM would do NY.

Posted by bill | March 28, 2007 12:08 PM

1208... got an email from livenation for the NY presale, lineup included in the email. its rage, wu tang, cypress hill, the roots, public enemy, immortal technique, felt, living legends.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2007 12:31 PM

Posted by frank | March 31, 2007 5:04 PM

For one, you guys have a problem with hiphop and the people of color in the venue. Don't fucken lie to yourselves, re read your damn message. Let me school you pussies ass racists for a second, Hip hop was one of the first music scenes that embraced all colors of people- not punk, not indie rock. You got something to say about hiphop, turn your backs and go to a damn Dave Mathews concert and drink a damn Samuel Adams with your blond haired blue eyed sorority sluts and scream "wooooooo" where your mentality truely belongs. So what you're vegan, me too, but I write graffiti and into straight edge. You guys have a mentality of a Frat boy from the damn WASP infested burbs, "oooh when are the shootings and stabbings occuring at this concert-- i'm scared I'm pissing in my panties". Keep your racists hating comments to yourselves you KKK pussy assholes!

Posted by Santiago | April 2, 2007 1:12 AM

You sound like the kind of person who'd start a fight

Posted by neckface | April 5, 2007 8:34 PM

Is the floor seating close to the stage? I dont know anything about this venue

Posted by Darraugh | April 8, 2007 4:23 PM

I just want to see the entire show before anything happens. Shit happens at every concert usually a retarded white kid (hopefully not me) does something that pisses someone off.

Posted by Lukus Mac | April 8, 2007 4:45 PM

How many people are going. I heard 45000 but that seems a little too much.

I went to summer jam last summer and the line up was crazy and not one thing went wrong. In Fact, I fell myself in a parking lot and was helped by anyone surrounding me. This show will be great, maybe the high price of the tickets will keep some rif raf out, that goes for everyone. Anyway, no one wants to get hurt, there is a mosh pit for the ones who do. Randalls Island is a great venue, it's huge. I also think this is for a 30 ish crowd, being I have been a fan of all of these guys since the beginning and I'm 30. So hopefully we have grown up a little since college and can act with some class and get through the night without any problems. You can only control yourself, so, it's up to you how your night goes, mine will be fucking awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by wgirl | April 11, 2007 10:07 PM

MF DOOM is sadly not playing at Randall's island. He is definitley one of the better artists performing, along side the entire Wu and Jedi Mind Tricks.

Posted by Anonymous | April 12, 2007 12:12 PM

stabbing or shootings? not with that line up. the only faggots who stab and shoot are those punks who listen and go to gangster rap concerts. people who can't fight stab and shoot. oh ya, suck my balls santiago, I'm a blond hair blue eyed B-boy who would take you out in all aspects of hip hop. keep your racist mouth shut you punk trick. fuckin hypocrite. go eat some moss or algae, whatever you vegan fags eat.
