CLOUD CULT RULE! Everyone should go cop the new album "The Meaning of 8". It's fucking amazing.

Posted by MARLOW | March 1, 2007 4:54 AM

Looks good to me. I'll bring my party shoes.

Posted by Covert Curiosity | March 1, 2007 5:14 AM

anonymous is right...shit lineup...sorry.

Posted by sam | March 1, 2007 8:46 AM

Are you guys seriously complaining about a free show? Well done, BV.

Posted by Peter | March 1, 2007 8:50 AM

The Scoot Inn sucks!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2007 8:57 AM

I love the Scoot Inn - nice mix of outdoor and indoor.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2007 9:04 AM

Yeah, I double that. Why does everyone have to complain about free shit? BV, don't listen to the haters....

Posted by julio | March 1, 2007 9:09 AM

Hey BV,

What is the matter with people? You put together a free show, and half of the comments are complaints that the lineup is unsatisfactory.

I wish I was going to SXSW. Out of the posted lineup, I would be most interested in hearing the Twilight Sad. I'm going to miss their 4/2 show at the Mercury Lounge.

Posted by Zenlaw | March 1, 2007 9:36 AM

damn im betting this is 21+?

Posted by benjamin | March 1, 2007 9:42 AM

damn im betting this is 21+?

Posted by benjamin | March 1, 2007 9:42 AM

If BV loves nothing else, it's tofu and Cloud Cult. Preferably together.

Posted by Mike N | March 1, 2007 10:08 AM

The Scoot Inn is a really nice venue, but IIRC, that's a 3/4th of a mile walk from Red River.

Oh, and I hope you guys have a rain contingency plan! I saw a show there in SXSW 2005 and we were foiled by hail.

Posted by kathryn | March 1, 2007 10:30 AM

I'm excited that Golden Bear is playing a decent party this year. everyone should prepare themselves for the most awkwardly awesome lumberjack front man in the history of austin music. no offense to Brothers and Sister's lumberjack front man...but he doesnt wear a blazer w/ a hand painted sword-weilding bear on the back.

Posted by Justin C | March 1, 2007 10:52 AM

That was just my favorite BV comment ever.

Posted by Joey | March 1, 2007 11:02 AM

you'd be stupid to pass on a free fucked up show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2007 11:29 AM

... uh mew? why all the hate? MEW! I'd go if I weren't in nyc

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2007 11:54 AM

Oh, cool, BV! Another free fun show for the punters! I was just digging on Golden Bear over the weekend:

Posted by Dfactor | March 1, 2007 12:47 PM

yesss bv! you should make an rsvp list.

Posted by lk | March 1, 2007 1:03 PM

its too bad you guys are having this party with (imho) the biggest jerks in college radio.

did I mention that AAM can go f**k themselves.

Posted by Fuck AAM | March 1, 2007 1:06 PM

Oh snap. I didnt even see Best Fwends!

For anyone who hasn't heard them, try to imagine listening to a drum machine clobber an 8-bit Nintendo System with a megaphone, all while being funnel-fed methamphetamines by a coked-up Robert Downey, Jr.

Posted by Justin C | March 1, 2007 1:24 PM

i always found the syndicate to the be the biggest jerks in college radio, at least aam work[ed] decent records

In answer to some of the issues raised above:

1. Scoot Inn is a 21 and up venue. Apparently there hasn't been a new all-ages venue permit issued in Austin for quite some time. Sorry, kids!

2. The venue is a bit of a walk, but it's not that bad. The way I see it, we're doing you a favor: you're going to need to burn some calories to compensate for all the beer and BBQ, right?

3. The outside stage is covered, and there is some coverage for the audience as well. The inside is leak free according to the venue; the people who own the place now are different from last year and I believe they did some renovations.

Everyone come out and have fun.

CLOUD CULT suck so bad!

Posted by me | March 1, 2007 2:56 PM

Great lineup! BV rocks. I love how the people that bitch use "anonymous".

thanks for the info AAM. Can't wait to come check it out!

Posted by MattP | March 1, 2007 3:05 PM

How can anyone complain about a free show. Thanks brooklyn vegan.

Posted by Vegan Scott | March 1, 2007 3:41 PM

the finches AND fucked up together? that's perfect!

Posted by lil cutie | March 1, 2007 3:54 PM

AAM saved my baby. Great line up!

Posted by Sarah | March 1, 2007 4:27 PM

Hey! The Finches is playin' Cake Shop TONIGHT! Jeebus.

Posted by Jeff GP | March 1, 2007 4:34 PM

seriously this lineup is amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2007 4:48 PM

Hurray for The Twilight Sad! Go on the Jocks. And good on yer for making it a free for all. Or free to all. Whatever.

Posted by Alex | March 1, 2007 5:32 PM

Nice going. I'm glad you've just made it completely open and none of this Let's-Make-This-An-RSVP-To-Make-Us-All-Feel-Important business. That being said, who's got my 'in' for the Vice party....

Posted by Jay | March 1, 2007 5:32 PM

What? No Andrew Bird? No Voxtrot? And you call this a BV party?

Posted by bumpershine | March 1, 2007 8:15 PM

that,s why we go to sxsw ever year to have a goog time meet& greet new bands. there are ten free parties a day to pick your bands and get with the free music program. the daily music programs are made for you. i will not be going there to the vegan party i do not like the nabd excet mew unless you have free vegan food i,m already booked for 5 parties

Posted by lahipster | March 1, 2007 8:47 PM

Wow, some negative stuff here...I'll put up with anything to catch MEW...little known, greatly loved by few. Don't tell anyone, cause I don't want it too crowded. Thank you Brooklyn Vegan!

Posted by Sukio | March 2, 2007 8:07 AM

The lineup isn't exactly my cup of tea either, but jeez... kudos to BV for putting this all together and hooking up the free stuff and putting his best foot forward. To those who are needlessly bitching, please check back with the deets on the free show YOU'VE put together...
