I hate how old new york is being chipped away little by little by apartment developments. There will be all these place to live but no more cool places to play at this rate!

Dammit! Siren is the same day at the last Harry Potter release. I am not ashamed to anonymously admit the book release takes priority.

Like the wise old Gibbard once said...."everything is closed in Coney Island..."

Re: Arcade Fire Tickets-I just got one for the second United Palace show-my friend doesnt like them so I am going alone!-it was pretty smooth-logged in before 10, refreshed incessantly, got the ticket, was out of there by 10:03.
Now Bjork @ 11! I am so glad they staggered the sell times.

I got one for the second United Palace show-it was very straightforward-logged in before 10, started refreshing around 9:58, got one will call ticket (my friend didnt want to go with me!-she didnt like the songs I sent her!) and was out of there by 10:03. I am not even sure if these shows are going to sell out-they are big venues and they didnt even sell out all the Judson shows.

Sorry about posting again.
Also have to say that for all the extra charges and the monopolies, I do feel like at least with Ticketmaster, I have more of a chance of getting the ticket online than with other online ticket sites. I will give them credit for that.

It's interseting how Arcade is crazy popular in NYC, but not in a lot of other places around the country. For example, my sister lives in Atlanta: the Arcade Fire show went on sale about a full month ago and there are still very good seats available on ticketmaster.

land or astroland?
Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2007 10:36 AM
I don't know if its less popular or less in demand (ie. more populated with indie kids in NY / NJ / Brooklyn than Atlanta) also people move a little slower in the south... shows do sell out & their's probably will but not in record breaking times like NYC / LA , etc..

any rumors about siren headliners yet? i remember seeing something about a band who was going to be touring around the ny area at that time... but now i can't remember.

I have to admit, I'm more excited to see Diplo than anything else on this weekend listing. The guy can make a dance floor erupt. If you haven't been to one of his shows, go. Although I think tonight is sold out.

None of this is surprising to me. Disney has been trying to get their mitts on this land for ages. I have no patience for the Disneyification of CI. It just doesn't make sense.
And if Siren fest needs to move...
...time to go to Prospect Park?
...I hear there's plenty of real estate on the Gowanus Canal to hold it.
...party in Ft. Green park!!!!!
If all else fails I invite the Siren Fest to my living room so my 2 yr old can dance to Pete and the Pirates.

time will heal. as one neighborhood builds up and becomes rich, another will lose value and become accessible. how many ghettos in new york used to be the seat of the wealthy?

how dare that lady sell coney island for a couple million dollars!? astroland is a very historic (and so fun) landmark with many visitors a year! old new york is definatly catching up with the new age of technology, and in some cases (like this), its a horrible thing!!!

Is the date confirmed? The Voice has announced the date in March, but this year nothing...
Posted by Anonymous | April 12, 2007 12:55 PM
When do we know who's playing the festival?
Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2007 8:08 AM
I doubt it's happening

I'm sad! It was fun driving out there on Friday or Saturday night, to get some food from Nathans, or candy apples and cotton candy, walk on the broadwalk, go over to the polar express to hear the music, or make yourself dizzy from the ride. Play a few games, take some pictures!!! Everybody took flicks out there. Coney Island has a lot of fun history. I hope they bring it back bigger and better! Yes the rides were always broke, but it was still a fun date!!!!

Wow, I have been away from New York to long! I have noticed the last comment on this blog is June of 2007. I had to leave a comment because it is like saying goodbye to an old friend. I was born and raised in New York, Brooklyn as a matter of fact. Coney Island was our Disneyland!! I can remember as a child, when we had good grades in school, the reward: CONEY ISLAND!! For my John Jay High School, graduation celebration: CONEY ISLAND!! My first kiss: CONEY ISLAND!!. Then as the years went by I had children of my own, guess where we went.. Yep, you got it, CONEY ISLAND!!! Oh, how I will miss it! Bye Bye CONEY... Thanks for the wonderful Memories.
