LCD Soundsystem & other new streaming CDs & related stuff
DOWNLOAD: London, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down (unofficial remix) (MP3) (MORE)
It's a great week for new streaming releases at AOL. You can listen to the new Ted Leo, LCD Soundsystem, El-P, Modest Mouse, Willy Mason, and Andrew Bird.
It's also a good week for "Best New Music" with LCD Soundsystem's Sound of Silver landing a 9.2 and Panda Bear's Person Pitch getting an even higher 9.4 - .3 short of Funeral. I don't use numeric scales, but I also really love both albums.
The Village Voice has great features on LCD Soundsystem (and here) and El-P.
The NY Times also covered LCD Soundsystem and El-P.
More unofficial 'Sound of Silver' remixes like the one above, here.
More LCD in this week's dance post. More El-P in this week's hip hop post. More new releases in this week's new releases. Panda Bear tickets still on sale.

Anyone catch the New Yorker's piece about LCD Soundsystem from Sasha Frere-Jones? I'd be curious to see what others think.
"The DFA"?

i love both albums but tthink those PF ratings are way too high. North American Scum is pretty weak and sounds like a rip off of Pete Shelley's Homosapien, and Panda's songs drag for too long, he'd benefit from some editing but each are worthy of the BNM TAG
as fro that VV piece on LCD, made me not like either james or the writer much. a lot of cock waving

I personally thought the cockwaving was the best part. It seems alot of 'interviews' and pieces either put artists as tortured, egomanaical, or deathly serious.
It was interesting reading them go back and forth about music like two frat guys talking football, made Murphy seem much more 'real' as opposed to a hyper publicist edited fiction of imagination.

that new york mag piece on lcd didnt tell me anything new but it was nice enough.
ive had sound of silver for a few months now but have playing it a lot this week...some excellent tracks there...also some throw aways...but a great album nonetheless.
i really liked that panda bear cd...very beach boys on acid.
and the new el-p is excellent.
definitely a good week for music.

Oh, yeah. Great new month for somebody else to give me high numerical ratings for albums so that I don't have to have my own opinions. That's so great.
Can you just stick to your what you do best, which is repost concert info from promoters? Spare me the "good news".

i like the interviews that have been popping up (NY Times, LA Times, VV, etc.) because they've been delving a bit "deeper" than the usual articles.

the LCD Soundsystem CD I BOUGHT has copyright protection, which means I can't listen to it since the only way I listen to music is through my Powerbook. Should have stolen it weeks ago like everyone else if the record companies are going to be like that.

James is a revolutionary musical genius. Taking the vintage, hidden shit and making new and relevant MUSIC. Saw the recent Studio B show and was blown away. Excellent energy. Great sound. His radio mixes are eclectic and fantastic. His musical knowledge and range is vast. Benefits can only come from these experiences.
