Michael Showalter with fans @ SXSW (CRED) & (CRED)
Michael Showalter & fanMichael Showalter & fan

"'It's often hard to find the young subscriber,' said Ken Sheldon, circulation director, New York. 'They're not on direct-mail lists. Subscription agents don't really contact them all that much. To reach out to them, we don't have a lot of venues and this was one way that we could try.'" [Ad Age] (thx Sam)

Each $20 ticket for Of Montreal Karaoke night comes with a free one-year subscription to New York magazine. Flosstradamus DJ's the event. Michael Showalter is the host.

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 2:25 PM

awe shit an anonymous dropped some science on all yall!

Posted by Anonymous | March 23, 2007 2:26 PM

This is kind of lame, because if you live with someone and you both get tickets, you're both getting subscriptions to the magazine. Hopefully Al Gore doesn't know about this.

If you don't want a subscription to NY Magazine (which was included in the price of the ticket, very strange) you can get a $10 refund by mailing them. So tickets would only be $10 each. Thats pretty cool, although inconvenient!

Does it come with an Outback Gift Card? And if Michael Showalter is hosting, they should pay me to show up.

i love how "young subscriber" means 21+. because that's what the event is. nice logic, nymag.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2007 12:14 PM

it looks like its sold out now.

Anyone want to sell tix to the of Montreal karaoke thing at Studio B? I will also consider a trade...I have tix for modest mouse, yo la tengo, and arcade fire. Please email me at fuchs17@yahoo.com

thanks,
Andrew

Sorry dude, but the "tickets" are non-transferrable. All the new, unwilling NY mag subscribers are on a list and you have to be on it to get in. There's no way to change it. I asked cuz one of my firends slept and now he needs a ticket too.
