True ColorsThis is awesome

Cyndi Lauper tops the bill of the inaugural True Colors tour--an outing she conceived to support the Human Rights Campaign, a gay-and-lesbian advocacy group--which will also feature Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls, The Gossip and The Misshapes.

The outing gets underway June 8 in Las Vegas and is scheduled to hit 15 cities throughout the US, including a June 30 finale in Los Angeles. The full itinerary is listed below. Tickets for select cities will begin rolling out Friday (3/16); details are available at the tour's website.

Hosted by comedian Margaret Cho, the event will feature five hours of music, according to a press release, and select dates will include appearances by special guests such as Rufus Wainwright, Rosie O'Donnell and Indigo Girls [livedaily]

"Hosted by comedian Margaret Cho,"

and then I stopped reading. No way, no how, never. Comedian should be in quotes.

Wait... Rufus Wainwright is gay?

does anymore else get the feeling that the gay community supports a lot of these mediocre artists, merely for being gay.

As much as I'd love to see the Dresden Dolls again, I can't justify paying that kind of money to see one band do a 20 minute set.

The Misshapes? Aren't these fame-whores dead yet?

Um, "anonymous"...please tell me you are not referring to Cyndi Lauper as "medicore".

>>does anymore else get the feeling that the gay >>community supports a lot of these mediocre >>artists, merely for being gay.

a) no
b) there not mediocre
c) some of them are straight

btw, I'm sure the gay community would love to have more artists you consider "less mediocre" support them, but few have the guts

ah, yes. the true colors tour. i saw it in MD. it was great, fucking costly, but it was worth it by far. i met the dresden dolls! woo! it was the most fun ever! and to the person who thinks margaret cho is not funny, you need a sense of humor, and a smacking.
