DOWNLOAD: Shout Out Out Out Out - Dude, You Feel Electrical (MP3)

SOOOO @ Southpaw, Brooklyn, NYC - March 9, 2007 (CRED & REVIEW)
Shout Out Out Out Out @ Southpaw

If you didn't catch Shout Out Out Out Out when they were in NYC last week, you have a few more chances to get down the sound if you head to SXSW.

Shout Out Out Out Out is a 6 piece rock band that plays funky dance music. I had the pleasure of catching the boys during CMJ and was completely blown way by their enthusiasm to rock the party and get asses shaking. Be prepared for lots of vocoder and mandated dancing.

Shout Out Out Out SXSW Schedule
Friday Mar 16: Insound Party at Club de Ville (900 Red River) 3:30 PM
Friday Mar 16: Impose Party Speakeasy (412 Congress) 5.20PM
Saturday Mar 17: Day for Night Party at Whiskey Bar (202 W 5th St.) 12:50 PM

(and for those not in Austin) A Big Dance Weekend in NYC...

there's been a change of venue for the third arcade fire show. the first two are still going to be at united palace, but the third may have something to do with the highline fest.

I'm going to be in NYC for the months of April/May and am wondering about good glitch/idm/techno events that occur either weekly or monthly. I read these BV listings and it seems like a lot of good things are happening- but curious about a list of regular parties and not one-offs.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2007 8:28 PM

To the "Jesus Christ Get a Fucking Life" person:

Ahhh...Easy man. Clearly we're joking. Jeez. Lighten up!!

Seriously, someone pass that guy the bowl STAT!!

Posted by anonymous | March 16, 2007 7:43 AM

i tired getting lcd tix earlier in the week but it was too late.
any chance they'll put them on sale again?
i know its prob slim to none, but it still has the little ticket symbol next to lcd on ticketweb, which is prob meaningless but still.

Posted by Anonymous | March 18, 2007 2:43 PM

I just bought 2 tics to lcd at webster. Hit ticketweb again. Studio b show is sold out, which woulda been better, but WH will do ;-) They did say a # of tics will be sold at the door for studio b, if you want to go early and wait it out

Posted by shanarooni | March 18, 2007 4:02 PM

yeah i'm just trying to get an extra for the 30th @ bowery. i already have a ticket, but i'm tryin to get one for my girlfriend. the posters above said the bowery shows went back on sale, but i guess i was too late. i keep checking every once in a while, but no luck. if anyone has an extra for the 30th let me know. thanks.

(sent to a listserve i'm on.)

Dear South by Southwest Tourists,

I wish I could tell each and every one of you individually how much of a pleasure it’s been to serve you at my independent downtown coffeeshop during Austin’s preeminent music festival. No, really. It’s been great. It’s such a joy to pour your endless soy half-calf no foam sugar free vanilla lattes and make your egg sandwiches when you stumble in slobbering drunk at 2:55 a.m., slurring industry deals into your cell phone as I try to take your order. I particularly appreciate your courtesy, and the way you never ever complain when your extra dry, extra hot cappuccino takes longer than 45 seconds to complete despite the line wrapping around the block. All you music biz folks are just stand-up human beings.

I do, however, have one minor quibble I’d like to point out to those of you enjoying the hospitality of my lovely hamlet of Austin.

Have you ever fucking heard of the concept of a tip? No, I don’t care if you have a badge. The pleasure of staring at your stupid VIP pass does not equate to a dollar in the jar. You’re not special. In fact, you really sort of suck.

Just to give you some hard figures to put it all in perspective, on any given Saturday afternoon shift we’ll run about $800 in sales and walk out the door with $70 or so in tips. Today, we ran $1,800 in sales. I have $40 in my pocket, and gosh do my feet hurt. Come to think of it, it was like this last year too, and the year before that, oh yeah, and the year before that too.

So here’s the score in Austin—the local custom, if you will. If I pour you a cup of regular old coffee, it’s nice to toss the change in the jar. No biggie if you don’t, but it’s considered polite. However, if your $36 tab includes food, beer and five fruit smoothies, and you stiff me on that one, well, it’s sort of an industry secret how we deal with you.

That’s all then. Hope you have a terrific flight home. Can’t wait to see you crazy kids next year!

Until then, I remain very truly,
Your barista

I found Booka Shade kind of boring. Their music works better for me on the train with my headphones on.
