Marissa Nadler, Fun, Pela, and Shy Child all played great sets Friday night @ Sin-e (OK, by their own admission Shy Child was a little off), but this post is about Tim Fite and Tim Fite especially killed it. Thanks to all the bands, and to all who came by to help say goodbye to Sin-e, and thanks to Maryanne for taking these great pictures...

Tim Fite @ Sin-e

"Anytime you get audience participation from a crowd in New York you are doing something right, and last night Tim had every member of the packed crowd singing along and joining in whenever he commanded it of you. It was an amazing performance." [Pop Tarts]

"It had all the elements for me to hate this set, and yet I was completely blown away." [Underrated]

"The guy is great. Part Demetri Martin, part avant garde, part hipster rap/country music revival makes me all completely bummed that I will have to wait another month to see him again (April 26th, Luna Lounge)." [The Music Slut]

is that good or bad? there seems to be a resurgence of late `80s, early `90s surf lingo, when "bad" meant "cool".

Example: they totally killed last night!

Perhaps it will continue in this direction and we can start saying "those guys SUCKED! it was fuckin awesome!"

Anyway....is "ruined" good or bad?

this show was fucking incredible--Marissa and Tim (i'm sorry i gotta be real, Fun sucked so badly i went into the hallway to talk to the cute door guy). I vote for a BV show, once a month ok? Just like we discussed!

Tim's been great for a few years now. There's definitely some shtick-factor, but he's always entertaining, unlike Art Brut who'll routinely turn a great song of theirs into mush.

I thought Fun was great. Complex rhythms, great drummer, nice texturing with the guitar; big sound for 3 guys from Finland. Tim Fite stole the show.

I too vote for once a month BrooklynVegan Presents!
