Live Earth is also 7/7/7, not that anyone who cares about Cat Power and Built to Spill is going to care.

thanks anon, however that pdf is actually from last year(note the date) when they initially tried to make the 77 drum thing happen and it didnt pan out.

oops...i didn't even read the date.
however, upon further research, i did find this from the vice records website:
The Boredoms have been blasting their way to the forefront of Japan's noise-music community since 1987. VICE loves them so much we're reissuing 6 Boredoms records in 2007. On January 23 we're putting out Super Roots, Super Roots 3 and Super Roots 5 and on February 20 we're releasing Super Roots 6, Super Roots 7 and Super Roots 8 into the world. These albums, EPs, singles and remixes begin with the band at their most violent and absurdist and ends with them at their most magnificently tranced-out and blissful. You can read all about it over here.
Check out the noise with "Jungle Taitei" from Super Roots 8. Oh, and if you happen to be in NYC on 7-7-07, stay tuned as the Boredoms will be premiering their greatest work yet, 77 DRUM. A performance by the Boredoms with 77 drummers.

I'm seeing if I can afford to come over from London for it...
Apologies if this is not really the place to post this.

where can you buy tickets for mccarren park concerts aside from bullshit ticketmaster?

Went to the Cat Power show on Saturday--Who knew SHE was opening? None of us did. So when we showed up to see her at 8:30 she was already done and Built to Spill was just starting. Can even tell you how disappointed we were. The website, the tickets everything implied that she was the headliner. What a waste of $44!

the hard ticket said Built To Spill and Cat Power so that implied BTS were playing last. also, if you went on ticketmaster.com, it said doors at 5. so that was pretty obvious that the last band wouldn't be going on too late.

i'm with you Jocelyn; everything i had seen/heard indicated (to me) that Cat Power was the headliner. Got there around 8:15-8:30 and missed her as well. Ticketmaster said 5; the McCarren website said 7:30, i figured doors at 5, Bob Mould at 6, BTS around 7:30, and Cat Power around 9 or so. Obviously, wrong. not trying blame anything other than myself, just sharing my disappointment. Luckily BTS was really, really awesome, so that sort of made up for it.

Why would BTS open for Cat Power? Doesn't make sense.
Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2007 10:43 AM
exactly... Built to Spill is the much bigger act here. I love Cat Power, and she put on a terrific set, but BTS are, without question, the headliners in this situation.

Am I the only person who thought CP fell off the wagon and was plenty tipsy? Half the times she tried to banter w/ the crowd she couldn't put a sentence together.
Artists need to get over the notion that fans paying $40 to see them want to hear mostly new/unreleased songs they've never heard. Always disappoints.
