Largehearted Boy's Interesting CD Releases This Week

Conor Oberst releases his latest Bright Eyes album, Cassadaga, tomorrow, and to my ears it's his strongest yet. Other highly recommended CD releases this week include Blonde Redhead's 23; CocoRosie's uneven but still lovable The Adventures Of Ghosthorse & Stillborn; one of my favorite albums of the year so far, Laura Veirs' Saltbreakers; and Scott Miller & the Commonwealth's live album, Reconstruction.
The remastered (and partially re-recorded) Palo Santo by Shearwater is another reissue gem from Matador, complete with new artwork and a bonus disc of outtakes.
I'm headed out tomorrow to pick up Madlib's The Other Side: Los Angeles, what else can you recommend from this week's CD release list....

why do you buy cds when you can download them for free?

anonymous 12:36, you're part of what's wrong with the industry. i download albums like mad, but if it's something that i really love and/or a band that i feel good about supporting, i'll buy it, too.

Quite a few good things out this week!
The new Jana Hunter album "There's No Home" is absoluetly stunning, one of the best all year. Heres what I thinks worthwhile: (inc. Jana)
Cloud Cult: The Meaning of 8
CocoRosie: The Adventures Of Ghosthorse & Stillborn
Jana Hunter: There's No Home
Laura Viers: Saltbreakers
The Rosebuds: Night Of The Furies
XBXRX: Wars
Xiu Xiu: Remixed & Covered

That new Bright Eyes is not his best for me. It's not even good enough for me to pick it up.

"why do you buy cds when you can download them for free?"
think of your favorite band. now imagine that most of their fans thought the same way, and they sold only just a few records ever. they probably wouldn't make any money off of their albums, if they even managed to cover the cost of production.
a good example of this is amon tobin's last album, it's pre-release leak on the net, and his reaction to it. you can read what he has to say about it in his own words on his website or his myspace page. it's not even a judgemental reaction, just a moment of frustration for him.

The Capsian disc "The Four Trees" is some seriously powerful stuff. Probably one of the best under-the-radar releases of 2007 so far. Instrumental rock that cover all of the emotional bases. There are moments of everything from metal to ambient al wrapped up in a nice 60 minute package. Highly recomended.

I agree,Caspian 's, The Four Trees, will become a classic. They are playing at Lit Lounge on 4/19 and Pianos 5/19. They are amazing live!
