LCD Soundsystem played Bowery Ballroom in NYC on Friday and Saturday (March 30th & 31st). I went Friday, and I wish I went Saturday too, and I wish they were playing there every single day because I think that was one of my favorite concerts ever - definitely one of the best I've seen in Bowery Ballroom - definitely-possibly the most people I've ever seen dancing and friendly-dance-moshing at Bowery Ballroom. Must go to Studio B and/or Webster Hall. Here's a picture from Bowery:

Last time I saw LCD at Bowery I wasn't AS into it - I can't really remember why. This time I loved it. Read more reviews at Qbertplaya, Music Slut, and Pop Tarts.
Planningtorock opened, but I missed them/her.

I agree 100%! I went on Saturday and it was by far one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Amazing energy, great crowd, ROCK! Can't wait for the next two shows! WOW!

i couldn't agree more. fun x1,000,000.

loved the whole show

James Murphy came into Bowery right behind me at 10pm on Friday. He was just waiting in line behind us for his turn to get in like a normal ticket holder. Very strange. He seemed a little out of it.

planning to rock was awesome?
sir/madam, your ears are broken
that was some of the worst karoake/boombox/chair standing/projector/film strip/mask wearing antics i've ever seen or heard
i'm sure the bar made most of it's money during this set.
i personally spent around 40 dollars trying to numb my brain from the shrill noises i was hearing.

i went both nights and saturday was actually better than friday, if only because they played someone great. both nights were ridiculous, but saturday...wow.
Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2007 1:43 PM
yeah planning to rock was godawful but i respect that it was at least different.
as for lcd...an excellent performance...great song selection. the new songs sound great live...especially innocuous and all my friends.
but, i may be ultra jaded but the crowd sucked. no one was dancing. everyone was moshing. dumb frat guys holding up their drinks as they get bumped into each other...splashing their drinks on others. dumb frat drunk guys pushing their way to the front of the stage. when some girl made a comment, some fat fuck just cursed at her and walked off.

hey anoynomous, if that is your real name, you're a moron at best and sub mental at worst. planningtorock was an insane, awesome experience. very weird and she commanded the stage. and yes, lcd was one of the best shows i've ever seen.

Saturday's crowd was much better than Friday's if you ask me which is weird as I'd have thought the 18+ audience woulda been more into it. They did "Someone Great" on Saturday too, though it wasn't that hot live as it's the mostly keyboards.
Did ANYONE get in the afterparty? I stood in line for a minute before bouncers came by yelling "guest list only... come back after 3!" I decided to call it a night.
Posted by bill p | April 2, 2007 2:11 PM
Afterparty was alright. I think the bouncers were just saying that because well... the place was packed and they couldn't fit more people in. Cut Copy was on the first floor ripping it up all night. In the basement Jame Murphy, the drummer from LCD, and the Guitarist from Hot Chip(who's played with LCD this tour) were all tag teaming. Good fun, expensive bar tab. too many dudes.
PTR... ehhhh, no thank you. interesting vocals but kind of creepy.

Afterparty was fun, spent too much money. Once you get past the velvet ropes 205 is alright. Most awkwardly placed bathroom in ny, maybe behind westville.
Posted by dave | April 2, 2007 2:29 PM
afterparty was wack. lame. you did not miss anything if you were not there.
Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2007 2:44 PM
afterparty fucking ruled...so glad i went...velvet ropes, bathroom attendants, and dfa...life is good!
so sorry i didn't go the the saturday show...someone great is the one i was hoping for on friday.
did they encore with joy division on saturday?
Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2007 2:51 PM
Does anyone know the cover that LCD Soundsystem played on Saturday night? I think it might have been a Joy Division song...
Posted by Howard | April 2, 2007 2:59 PM
The best part of the Saturday gig, besides the band being fucking brilliant, was standing in the back next to Tim Goldsworthy, Rob Heubel and Aziz. Aziz was doing the best dance I have ever seen in my life. It was like the chicken dance only miles, miles better.
Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2007 3:01 PM
Ya a show is much better when rob and aziz are there. Much much better
Posted by Jp | April 2, 2007 3:13 PM
joy divison cover = no love lost
a better question...why doesn't everybody own warsaw?
Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2007 3:16 PM
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

did they play 'someone great' on friday and i somehow missed it? not possible?
Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2007 5:12 PM
I was really sweaty and really really tired and really really really happy.
No, they didn't play something great on Friday.
Posted by blake | April 2, 2007 5:20 PM
thank god...
saw this under the "3/30" heading and freaked the fuck out...

on the bright side, i didn't miss it...on the flipside, lcd apparently did
Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2007 5:26 PM
sweet titties. i'm losing my edge.
Posted by graig markel | April 2, 2007 5:28 PM
They did NOT play "Someone Great" on Friday. I hope they play it at Studio B.

the cover song on Friday before NY I Love You was "Throw" by Paperclip People (Carl Craig). I wasn't there on Sat, but I hear that they have been doing this cover all over Europe, so maybe it was the same one?
Posted by evan | April 2, 2007 6:10 PM
are you sure we got paperclip people? i could almost swear we got no love lost on fri night. but then again the nights a bit fuzzy, with all the sweating,dancing,awesome-ing. it was so fucking incredible. anyone have the ACTUAL setlists for both nights?
Posted by Anonymous | April 2, 2007 7:43 PM
Well, I agree that the night's a bit fuzzy for me too, but I listened to the original "throw" twice today in the car, and I'm certain that's what we heard right as the encore started.
Anyone know what song was played when the lights went down before the band came on?
Posted by evan | April 2, 2007 10:05 PM
okay, I know Friday right now is very fuzzy...I watched the you tube video, and we did hear the Joy Divison song at the beginning of the encore. But I swear that we heard the baseline and james hitting the snare druns from "Throw" at some point. Maybe right before they launched into "yeah"?
Posted by evan | April 2, 2007 10:24 PM
man this show was so fun. i went with my brothers. it reminded me of that time we saw nine inch nails. i'm just so happy we exist in downtown new york and listen to lcd soundystem. hipsters are so gay!
Posted by frat boy #1 | April 3, 2007 12:12 AM
Friday's cover was NOT "Throw." The baseline and beat to "Yeah Yeah Yeah" is similar to "Throw" which is why some people may have thought they had heard it.

Hey fratboy... my favorite part of Saturday's show was when you spilled beer on my girlfriend, and she proceeded to kick you in the shins.
Posted by Anonymous | April 3, 2007 10:48 AM
i love the shins!

jello shots and jalapeno poppers on my roof tonight @ 8 -- it's gonna be tight

Me and my girl travelled over from the UK just to see LCD after winning the bidding on e bay.Got to say they were yet again blinding. We saw them at the Astoria in London and it was probably the best gig I have ever seen. The place was jumping and I mean jumping!!The lighting and sheer voliume of sound created was awesome.Went to the after show do as well and it was great.Nearly missed the show when the doorman refused to let me in because I had no ID!Had to go all the way back to our hotel to get my drivers licence.I know he was only doing his job.
P.S You yankees have got a bit of a bad reputation back in good old blighty but I have got to say that I was bowled over by just how friendly and helpful New Yorkers actually are.We cant wait to come back. Many thanks.
