SPOON - Bowery Ballroom, Battery Park, SXSW (Ga Ga Ga...)
DOWNLOAD: Spoon - Mountain To Sound (MP3)
Spoon went from having no upcoming NYC shows to having two awesome upcoming NYC shows:
Spoon in NYC, 2007
Apr 23 - Bowery Ballroom (TICKETS)
Jul 11 - Battery Park (FREE)
They are definitely on my good side right now. Last time I saw Spoon was not only a complete surprise, it was as opener (and honored to be doing it according to Britt Daniel) for Roky Erickson at the 'Ice Cream Social' at Threadgill's during SXSW in Austin this year (March 15, 2007):

Small shows, free shows, suprise shows, Roky Erikson....can Spoon get any cooler right now? Yes - their upcoming album ("Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" out July 10 on Merge) has one track produced by none other than Jon Brion.
More pics (including the coolest one of all) & tour dates below....

Do you think the Spoon Bowery will sell out quickly? I thought they'd be gone by now...

I saw a free Spoon show on Thursday in Nashville, sponsored by Jack Daniel's. They played some new songs, a lot of old songs...all in all it came off like a band playing a well-paying corporate gig, aka not a good show. During one particular lull I checked the time and figured I might as well leave early and get some sleep. Hope their "normal" shows are a lot better.

Used to be good.

There seems to be something very stale and
formulaic about what spoon has become. Song wise AND corporate (Camel, Jack Daniels) show wise.

Was Frost there? I don't really see any pics of him and I was wondering about the show because I know that the new Satyricon record is coming out in November so I would think that they had someone fill his spot for the tour.
