Chrisette Michele & Jay-Z @ Joe's Pub, NYC - April 2, 2007
Chrisette Michele @ Joes PubChrisette Michele @ Joes PubChrisette Michele @ Joes Pub

Monday night I went to see Island Def Jam recording artist Chrisette Michele perform at Joe's Pub. Jay-Z came out on stage to introduce her (see photo). I came away impressed, and looking forward to her debut album - out in May. She has a lot of soul and sass, and her songs had that little something different that makes them stand out. She paid tribute to some of her idols by segueing from bits of Erykah Badu's song to Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole. More photos here.

You might remember Chrisette from Nas' song (and video) "Can't Forget About You". They performed it together on Letterman in February. You also might know her from Jay-Z's song (and video) "Lost Ones".

Earlier Monday (before Joe's Pub), Jay-Z was spotted at Yankees stadium watching Opening Day game...

brooklyn vegan, your so "liberal" having a hip-hop section on your blog...but why is it segregated from the rest of the blog. Can't black musicians be integrated into your blog, or do they have to have their own "special section" - Wes' Weekly Hip Hop News Roundup?

You haven't been reading this blog for long, have you, cat.

Posted by undisputed wes | April 8, 2007 1:48 AM

hey - thanks for the info about Snoop's appearance in Dublin but please remember that Ireland is separate from the UK, so there are separate laws re: visas for the guy to play here.

Oh by the way, I also found a lot of people that are going to Coachella and are looking for others to join them . I only mentioned it because I noticed people are looking for rides and tickets for Coachella.

Ok i think i just found my favorite hiphop blog, not only did you have info on my bwoy Pharoahe Monch tour dates, but that track list on the out of print pod cast brought back memories. I actually have some of those joints on some old Kid Capri mixtapes thats i still have (never throw away stuff!!!). Speaking of Kid Capri, if your in the D.C area, my man is going to be rocking the crowd at the Yaris Dj battle at Club Love on June 21st, where the winner of the battle gets 2Gs. For more info on the event or to enter the battle, check out I work with Yaris thats how i know.
