Icky Thump

The White Stripes' new single"Icky Thump" is available on iTunes now. The whole album called "Icky Thump" is out June 19th. The tour:

This summer The White Stripes will visit their neighbors in the “Great White North” as they embark on a tour of Canada that takes in all 10 provinces, as well as the Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.

“Having never done a full tour of Canada, Meg and I thought it was high time to go whole hog. We want to take this tour to the far reaches of the Canadian landscape. From the ocean to the permafrost. The best way for us to do that is ensure that we perform in every province and territory in the country, from the Yukon to Prince Edward Island. Another special moment of this tour is the show which will occur in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on July 14th, The White Stripes’ Tenth Anniversary” -Jack White

Following Canada, the band returns to the United States to play the first leg of the 16 states they have yet to visit during their career, as well as a limited number of performances in other markets, including New York City and Boston. Stay tuned for more confirmed dates and check out their complete routing by visiting the “shows” section.

The NYC dates is July 24th at Madison Square Garden. Big show.

And the Raconteurs are recording. Jack White is a busy guy...

The Raconteurs are in a Nashville recording studio working on the follow-up to their 2006 debut "Broken Boy Soldiers" and hope to have a new album out sometime next year.

The group, which features Jack White of the White Stripes, Brendan Benson, and Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler of The Greenhornes, has been recording at Blackbird Studio in Nashville for a week-and-a-half and currently has 12 songs written, White tells Billboard.com.

They're even playing at the GREAT Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona (Spain)on may 31...

Posted by Enrico | April 26, 2007 5:40 AM

I'll be at the MSG one.

Posted by keith roderick | April 26, 2007 5:44 AM

Oh for christ's sake MSG. That just really sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 6:45 AM

they suck - just look at their costumes.

Posted by mj | April 26, 2007 8:16 AM

this is an outrage.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 8:16 AM

Where did you expect them to play? They've become one of the biggest bands in the world, they can't play at ballrooms forever. I think the Garden is going to be a great place to see 20,000 (or whatever) people lose their shit.

I completely agree with "Anonymous 8:57 a.m."

The show at MSG will be sick. Anyone who saw the Stripes play at Coney Island knows that Jack White is capable of tearing up a big arena. It will be LOUD and insane in there.

Wow, I can't wait for this.

*yawn*

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 9:04 AM

MSG will be awesome. Also if you want to see them in a samller venue go to a show outside of NYC. I am planning to do about 6 of these shows and few of them are in nice theaters.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 9:14 AM

anyone know when tix go on sale for the msg show?

Posted by drLES | April 26, 2007 9:15 AM

Jack white is officially an anti-semite. I kid I kid, but hes having his msg show on the saddest day in Jewish history. DAMNIT

Posted by Daniil | April 26, 2007 9:29 AM

And what day might that be?

Posted by Drugs Delaney | April 26, 2007 9:40 AM

I've been a fan since the early singles, and I very sadly have to say this is the first single they've released that I didn't think was very exciting or catchy. It's kinda average. Sad........

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 9:45 AM

Fan since the early singles -

Average??????? Wha??

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 9:55 AM

Fan...of singles...

Hmmm.

A Fan...of...just singles.

Posted by Loser | April 26, 2007 10:10 AM

Does Jack White record anything in under 2 weeks time?

Where's the Vancouver date?

Posted by bumpershine | April 26, 2007 10:14 AM

I meant over 2 weeks time. Damn uneditable comments.

Posted by bumpershine | April 26, 2007 10:15 AM

awesome news, I'll be there

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 10:20 AM

Ummm, the Jewish holiday referred to above officially ends at sundown on 7/24, so if you book over to the show immediately after sundown you should still be able to catch the White Stripes.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 10:29 AM

why can't I find this on itunes?

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 10:42 AM

Zzzzz...

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 10:50 AM

CAN ANYONE FIND THIS ON ITUNES?

doesn't appear to be there..

Posted by Z-Dog | April 26, 2007 11:02 AM

Hahahah laughing at the morons and crying at reality. Where exactly will you be going nuts at MSG..all the way in the back? up at the top? in the 300's? Oh yeah right you will be on the floor in the first 10 rows like everyone else..yeah thats it
Cmon now, i mean yes i understand reality that the band is huge and maybe this is the only place they can play in nyc. I understand i wont be able to see them in small venues anymore like i have in the past. But I mean seriously to say this show will be insane and amazing is a little ridiculous. More like an ok soundwise show that satisfies the needs of the masses in nyc to see the band.

"CAN ANYONE FIND THIS ON ITUNES?

Type white stripes icky thump in the search button on itunes and it should be there.

Posted by brian-nyc | April 26, 2007 11:11 AM

Go to the main White Stripes page on iTunes and it's there.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2007 11:20 AM

it is kinda hidden in the middle of all their songs.
love. can't stop listening to it. one of my co-workers might hurt me soon if i dont though.

the ever lasting whiny argument when good bands get too big...

its happened with a lot of bands who had a small/indy following at first...the white stripes, the shins, modest mouse, death cab, etc.

these bands are just too good that they appeal to all....do people really think that amazing bands will remain underground forever? few do. besides many of these bands put out several albums before recognized, making it more deserving.

just accept it....the bands you think are good are really good and others found out.

When I saw the White Stripes 2-3 years ago at Roseland Ballroom, I thought THAT PLACE was huge for the two people onstage. MSG is a big place, and I love Jack White's singin' and playin', but seeing a live show at MSG with only two people onstage is just weird.

There's also a version of the song linked over at WebVomit (http://jasper.webvomit.com) you could sample for free, FYI. He also has 2 leaked songs from the upcoming Great Lakes Myth Society (http://www.myspace.com/greatlakesmythsociety) album on there (they're at the Knitting Factory on Tuesday).

there's nothing better than a band that can fill msg and make it hot. i'd rather see them kill it there than at the merc. it can be an awesome time

Posted by Dirk | July 24, 2007 8:11 PM

The song is pretty bad when it's all said and done, and that has NOTHING to do with how old they might be.
