Red Bank!?!?
Wilco is coming to my town?!
That is way too cool; I can't wait.

Awesome! At least they are paying Hammerstein instead of Roseland! I'll be there! Maybe Count Basie Theater too! New album sounds great!

holy shit is that new album boring.

I'm a Huge Wilco fan. New album is extremely disappointing. I've been anxious for them to come to NYC, but if they play mostly new stuff the show could be a snoozefest.

im gonna be in london while theyre there but i cant see sitting through tweedy's AOR crap.
he really threw it all away. he needs a teo macero to reign in his ego.

why are most of the comments on this blog negative?

Actually, I don't think the album is streaming right now. They've been streaming it every other weekend or so for the past month in 24 hour spurts, so it hasn't been a continuous thing, and I don't think it's up now. They usually send an announcement out when they plan putting it up again.

I'm glad that there are huge wilco fans who are disappointed.
hopefully that means better ticket availability and fewer assholes shouting for 'passenger side' three songs into a show.

The new album is great. It's got a really "classic" vibe, with hints of the Dead, the Beatles, the Band and even Phish.
I can understand that A.M.-style Wilco fans are disappointed, but I figure they've probably been disappointed for a while and need to just suck it up and move the hell on.

dead, phish...this is exactly what killed this band.
am sucked, being there is classic, summerteeth was better, yankee was excellent and a new direction, ghost was tweedy on an ego trip with the occasional excellent song.
this time around, everyone's defending it saying its like listening to am radio in 1973...well am radio in 73 sucked...thats what punk was trying to destroy.

Hammerstein can make even the best performance a true misery, physically and aurally

wait, doesn't anyone want to know what's up with the picture of tweedy playing in a living room? and if you are hired to play someone's house, solo, is it really necessary to bring 4 different guitars?

That picture is actually from a Bush 2004 reelection fundraising campaign at BV's home in Greenwich.

when are tickets on sale?

Thanks for reminding me once again how much a fucking waste of time it is clicking on the Comments section. And for the record, A.M. radio in 1973 was pretty fucking excellent--punk was out to destroy F.M. radio bullshit. Fucking 25-year-old dilettantes....

really complaining about hammerstein? I think that venue is so much better than roseland, which is the only similar place. where would you like them to play? I'd love a monthlong residency at bowery but that's not quite realistic.

I think it's okay to bring 4 guitars to play somebody's living room if they're paying 36K to a kid's charity for you to do it.

yeah, personally i'm pretty happy its at Hammerstein. It's the only GA venue that they would really fit, with the exception of Roseland (which would be terrible). And I'd prefer GA to something like the Beacon or Town Hall. Maybe Nokia Theater could have worked, but that's a lot smaller than Hammerstein, I think.
The only preferable venue would probably be an outdoor venue (ie. Prospect Park Bandshell).

i took said photo above..
as for the guitars, only 3 of those were Jeffs, the Hummingbird was someone elses

"The only preferable venue would probably be an outdoor venue (ie. Prospect Park Bandshell)."
yes, that would be great! how many does mccarren pool hold? their central park summerstage bill with sonic youth was great.
I think this album translates nicely to the outdoors... those pretty two guitar solos dueling out to starlight.... like an evening breeze carrying the sounds of an AM radio sitting on a blanket in 1973, if you will.
I'm hoping to make a summer road trip up to the pines the night before, just for that experience. who's with me?

It is a true gift to witness the constant evolution of a band such as Wilco. Why would you want a new album to sound like or even replicate an old one? I have collected music all of my life, with my interests evolving and ever changing. I've gone from Hard Core to Folk and Folk to Hip Hop and appreciate it all. Wilco represents Tweedy's life experience and intimate understanding. I haven't heard the album in it's entirety but I will await with an open mind. It is fine to be critical, it is different to be point blank negative. I would rather own 100 mediocre Wilco albums than one great Taylor Hicks recording. With that said, I agree. Comment sections are a waste of time.

Hello Mr Anonimous. I think you're not a "huge" wilco fan if you don't like their new album.
Ciao.
