I had EE orchestra, and just now I had "General Admission standing" which I'm not sure I even realized there was.

Posted by brooklynvegan | May 7, 2007 2:37 PM

where is General Admission standing? I keep getting that as well.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 2:41 PM

where do they let you stand in this joint? Please advise, knowing hipsterati....

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 2:41 PM

Does anyone know what the schedule is for tonight (what time the opener/Arcade Fire is on)?

Posted by mu | May 7, 2007 2:43 PM

4th row tonight and tomorrow!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 2:44 PM

If this show is anything like Philadelphia was on Saturday, row and seat # will be irrelevant.

Posted by birdboy | May 7, 2007 2:50 PM

Also based on Philly:

National started playing at 8PM sharp; Arcade Fire went on betw. 9:15 and 9:20.

Posted by birdboy | May 7, 2007 2:53 PM

GA standing: commentor in Bjork post mentioned this - seems they line you up against a wall (I know, sounds kinda ominous) then you go for whatever seats are unoccupied at showtime. I see GA are available still for Tue.

Posted by drewo | May 7, 2007 2:53 PM

so excited...grabbed last minute tix dead center 13th row for tonight.

according to a comment for bjork earlier today, "GA ticketholders were told to stand in the far right aisle against the wall but i was able to grab a seat in the center aisle, nine rows back. you can pretty much sit anywhere, the staff hardly checks tickets. unless someone complains."

Posted by Qbertplaya | May 7, 2007 2:53 PM

From the Bjork thread:

United Palace released 200 GA (standing room only) tix for this show.
i ordered one from ticketmaster (i know...i know, but i'd never seen the Bjorkster and always regretted it) at about 6:00 sat. night.
By 9:30, i was watching the Bjork and Antony duet which was really something special. it kind of reminded me of the Morrissey and Siouxsie "interlude" collaboration.
but anyway...GA ticketholders were told to stand in the far right aisle against the wall but i was able to grab a seat in the center aisle, nine rows back.

The GA standing is at the side of the orchestra (mainly on the right as you face the stage at Bjork). The sightlines in this place are pretty excellent so they are well worth going for. Don't think they tell you to then go for a seat but I guess there's nothing stopping you. One problem with the seats is that it's very hard to see the letters / numbers especially when the band's on and the lights are off so that may be a reason for seats being empty.

Posted by Alex | May 7, 2007 2:58 PM

hopefully they'll release them for RCMH as well, I can't make it tonight or tomorrow :(

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 2:59 PM

And I forgot to say in my last post - according to the Mercury Lounge box office, Arcade Fire are due on at 9.15. The will call line for Bjork was pretty huge and I think a large number of the AF tickets were will call only (maybe all of them were?) so get there early to avoid chaos.

Posted by Alex | May 7, 2007 2:59 PM

just got 5th row LLoge tickets for tomorrow's show.

thanks BV!

Posted by rose | May 7, 2007 3:09 PM

Anyone know where the sound booth is set up? There's plenty of row MM and NN orchestra seats, but I wonder if they might be behind the sound booth.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 3:12 PM

for all of you with the standing room right side or anywhere close to the front bring ear protection. I ended up far right in the front rows for bjork and was literally 4 feet from the speaker tower(ripped my tshirt and shoved into my ears) sound has been ok there(MM and Bjork) but up front its a bit overwhelming. see ya up front BV!!

Posted by old man river | May 7, 2007 3:13 PM

Anywhere good near the theater for dinner before the show?

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 3:23 PM

El Malecon -- terrific dominican right across the street. Don't speak much english but the food is really great.

Posted by chunk | May 7, 2007 3:31 PM

Posted by Daniil | May 7, 2007 3:37 PM

"I think a large number of the AF tickets were will call only (maybe all of them were?)"

Yeah, the first 15 rows of the Orchestra were, I think.

I requested that my (loge) tickets be mailed to me when I placed my order, but got a call from Ticketmaster on Thursday to let me know my tickets hadn't been sent out yet, so I'll have to get my ticket from Will Call. So it's entirely possible that while the show wasn't announced as such, it may actually be all Will Call.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 3:47 PM

Malecon it is. Thanks for the tips. Hopefully I will have time to eat and get my tickets off the Will Call line b/f the show starts.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 3:53 PM

The Sound Booth is setup around row D on the right center.

I thought the volume was much louder at Modest Mouse than Block Party, almost too loud.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 4:00 PM

Wait, this is just for tonight's show, or all three?

Posted by Benjamin | May 7, 2007 4:02 PM

what sorta greedy motherfucker already has a pair and goes looking for another pair.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 4:10 PM

"what sorta greedy motherfucker already has a pair and goes looking for another pair."

The sort that feels s/he deserves a better seat since s/he was on the ball with buying the tickets in the first place?

I didn't do it, but I understand the reasoning. It kind of feels like the only people left in the loges and balcony are the ones who got tickets ahead of time (boo-frinkin-hoo).

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 4:24 PM

hahaha

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 4:27 PM

will call warning get there early, if you want to see the nationals, for bjork I got there at 8 didn't get in until 8:30.

gen admin is against the right wall, sound not bad unless you are right up front which is only one, twothree persons per row up against the wall after the first section plenty of space for a quite a few each row.

Posted by ht | May 7, 2007 4:34 PM

Have the following available (just got 2 in row MM):
1 - Upper Loge, row E
2 - Orchestra, row U
3 - Orchestra, row R
4 - THREE (3) General Admission tix, to pick up at will call

Went to see Modest Mouse at United Palace, and all of these seats are great - not that I think anyone will be sitting down all that long....

Anyway - email me if you are interested -
rulenumber62@gmail.com.

Work in midtown, live on UES - will do both pickup at my location Tuesday 5/8 OR pick up at the venue.

This is going to be one of the greatest shows of the year...

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 5:41 PM

i have two upper loge left row h, selling for $80. (917) 494-1530.

Posted by matt | May 7, 2007 5:43 PM

Buyers delight for AF tix on CL now (for those willing to negotiate). The scalping game can go both ways.

Posted by drewo | May 7, 2007 5:57 PM

Anybody have an extra for Tuesday? I'll trade a Blond Redhead ticket plus a few bucks.

Posted by Benjamin | May 7, 2007 6:02 PM

When did BV comments become craigslist? I missed the announcement.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 8:47 PM

BV is not CL - I just figured that there would be real fans of the band reading BV, and those people would be most interested in tix - i know i i didnt have any i would be looking everywhere.

Besides- whats better than finding out the day before a sold out show that you can get tix at face value?

Posted by Josh | May 7, 2007 10:22 PM

At tonight's show GA ticket holders we were directed to the 5th floor. Had to stand behind a five-foot wall behind the last row in the balcony. Security would not allow us anywhere else in the theater. (We could not line up against the right-hand wall, as with Bjork, and move into open seats). Sightline was totally blocked. It was also about 90 degrees up there ... curious to hear where other GA peeps watched the show from.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 11:28 PM

if that's true i would contact either ticketmaster or the bowery presents and demand a refund.

not promoter should be allowed to get away with that. at the very least, obstructed views have be denoted as such on the ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2007 11:37 PM

i had GA tix, and after being directed to the upper tier by almost every staff member, my friend and i just walked in the door to the right-hand wall aisle and stood there the whole show. no one bothered us.

I walked in about 5 after 8, and The National were already onstage.

Arcade Fire hit the stage at approximately 9:17

Will-Call looked like a Cluster-Phuck, but I wouldn't literally know, as I had no reason to visit Will-Call.

If you're looking for (non-Anglo) food, I suggest the following trio, and in this order:

1. El Conde Steakhouse

2. El Malecon

3. Mambi

Back to Arcade Fire... someone posted that if this show was like the other night (Philly, was it?) that location wouldn't matter, and that person is right. Although, while a relative experience, I prefer to be within the middle orchestra, at the very least, or first two rows in lower loge.

They were amazing, and Winn can (now) front with the best of them. They've really grown since the last time I saw them (Summer Stage) and I was more than surprised: color me impressed.

It's silly to write the following, since they only have two albums to their name (not including EPs etc.) and are young, but they are on fire, at their peak or, at the very least, at the top of their game.

The National were very good, had good crowd support, but the bigger room (that is, UPT) appeared to be a bit daunting for them: their Bowery gigs should be off-the-wall.

Also, Winn's voice was in excellent form.

What a show!

A side note, but related...:

And, hipsters, please be nice to the residents, restaurant staffers, and store employees in the Heights: it's to everyone's advantage to leave a good impression.

I don't know why Brooklynites and NYU-students think it's necessary to "act tough" when in the 'hood: no one's gonna kick your asses in, unless you get stupid (just like anywhere else.)

So, kindly drop the pose, lose the sneer, and toss the 'tude at the L Train and West 4th St. stations, and leave yourself open to experience a different place in the same city: you may learn a thing or two about yourselves, and a different neighborhood than the one you're used to.

Cred starts with respect.

Cheers,

East Coast Promo-Man

after the first three songs they let all the GA go up against the stage, they also let the front row do this as well, it was really awesome.

on a side note, security let me use my dSLR even though i did not have a press pass, they only asked me to stop taking pictures during the encore, which by then i had plenty of great shots.

was there any smoking? im stoked for tommorrow night

Posted by daniil | May 8, 2007 12:56 AM

Due to a prior engagement, I got to the venue around 9 PM and waited in the Will Call line less than five minutes.

"And, hipsters, please be nice to the residents, restaurant staffers, and store employees in the Heights: it's to everyone's advantage to leave a good impression."

Seriously. This would include paying for your subway ride home, not being too important to wait in the turnstile line and entering via the emergency exit. Talk about douchery.
