Bjork @ Radio City Music Hall

It's not the first time I've seen her. I've seen her at Radio City even, but something about last night - it was extra special. Bjork, the lights, the sound, the band, the songs (how great is Volta - I love it), the special guests.....the Antony & Bjork duet = one of the top concert moments of my life. more later. good night.

Seriously David, thank you.

Posted by Eduardo | May 3, 2007 1:35 AM

I'm jealous.

Awesome show! Worth every penny. Her vocals were great last night. Lots of energy. And that duet was so moving!

Posted by maria | May 3, 2007 1:43 AM

i saw the duet twice...once at soundcheck before....great chemistry then as well...best show this year so far....

"the Antony & Bjork duet = one of the top concert moments of my life"

Wow BV, i am starting to have my doubts about you. If that is one of the top concert moments of your life I am thinking maybe you need to see more shows and better ones at that. I give you much credit most of the time for your tastes in music but that statement makes me wonder.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 2:29 AM

I second BV on that. That duet tonight was wonderful to me too and since I don't see artists like Bjork and Antony together that often, then I guess it's onw of my top concert moments as well.

so so so excited for saturday!

Posted by powkang | May 3, 2007 4:00 AM

For me it was tremendous too. basically up there with Foghat in Cincy ('82).

Posted by dale jenkins | May 3, 2007 6:32 AM

I second comment #1, amazing, but short. I'm not angry at all, it was simply stunning, but I thought we'd get more than 80 minutes. I just say that because I wanted Hunter, Bachelorette, and I think Declare Independence should be TWICE what it was. Pluto was huge last night—and it should be double that.

But yes, phenomenal. Can't wait to see more pictures of the lasers!

Does anyone know anything about the touch-screen table instrument played during Pluto and Declare Independence?

Posted by st | May 3, 2007 7:43 AM

How funny was that guy that started skipping around the stage? At first I thought he was another guest or part of the show, but when he got tackled by Refrigerator Perry, BOOM!

Hahahah.... Awesome show. Raise Your Flag!!!!! I mean how cool was that laser bouncing off the wall feeding off Bjorks energy....

Posted by Chris | May 3, 2007 7:48 AM

the table top instruments are the lemur and the reactable. boingboing.net had a huge write-up on them after coachella.

my only complaints were the short set and lack of songs from post, but you can't win them all. still one of the best shows i've ever seen.

Posted by timothy | May 3, 2007 8:20 AM

the best show I've seen this year, hands down. Pluto, Innocence and Declare independence the highlights of the night. I hope she comes back later for more shows, I am still shivering after last night!

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 8:33 AM

I can't wait for Saturday!!!

Posted by lkk | May 3, 2007 8:34 AM

Has anyone heard Volta in its entirety yet?

Posted by Brian | May 3, 2007 8:52 AM

Brian--Volta in it's entirety is amazing.

There are some slower moments, but overall, what a nice throwback to some more danceable tunes (esp. Innocence)! Plus, the songs with Antony are goosebump inducing.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 9:04 AM

Yes brian, I have. Got it off bittorrent, its mindblowing.

Posted by Daniil | May 3, 2007 9:08 AM

Anyone got set times?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 9:09 AM

what a waste
how much were tickets?

Seeing Antony and Bjork perform live was a mindblowing experience. I hope the video I shot came out good, it was too late by the time I got home to even check it out.

i have a vid of the bjork/antony duet from far away...the bass drowns out antony a wee bit, but it's aight.

Posted by Qbertplaya | May 3, 2007 9:25 AM

i heard they released a bunch of tickets last night before the show...i'm hoping they release tickets on sat night too.

Posted by jroy | May 3, 2007 9:35 AM

The concert was fantastic. I loved that Anchor Song was in Icelandic. I would have creamed my shorts for some Bachelorette and Hyperballad, but even so the show was fantastic. Pluto was out of this world--pun INTENDED.

Posted by Shanghaier | May 3, 2007 9:36 AM

jroy -- i got my tix for the radio city show the day before, and really good ones too -- row JJ in section 4 (center). keep trying!

Posted by Qbertplaya | May 3, 2007 9:42 AM

First of all, if anyone wants to hear Volta, they can stream that album from the "media player" at NME.com.

Volta is amazing, btw. Truly a return to form (if you consider Medulla a departure).

Last night's show was excellent. I agree with many of the above comments that the only deficiencies were the short length of the show and the lack of certain key songs (e.g. bachelorette, hyper-ballad, etc.)

The duet with Antony was amazing. I loved Antony jumping up and down while Bjork was singing to him.

Declare independence!

Im usually not a hater at all but I was honestly let down by her performance last night. Didnt anyone else notice she was reading off a monitor the whole time!??!

or you can download it somewhere else - no registration required.

"what a waste

quality, not quantity.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 10:00 AM

that moment when antony started jumping up and down was divine. i thought i would cry.

i loved the quietness of vespertine, and when she played radio city for that tour it was truly lovely (and the timing--it was just a few weeks after 9/11--somehow it felt healing). but i was happy to get the club feeling back this time around.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 10:02 AM

Show was lame. Lay of the Medulla tracks. Very disappointing, and I had 3rd row.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 10:06 AM

Does anyone remember what time she went on?

Posted by Mike | May 3, 2007 10:07 AM

show was really good, it could have been great if she had at least one more classic bjork song and extended the whole show by three more songs...did feel too short

Posted by M | May 3, 2007 10:24 AM

9:15 sharp
she played until about 10:30

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 10:24 AM

it was simply amazing. cant wait for saturday.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 10:38 AM

Nice... thanks for the tip, Dan.

Posted by Brian | May 3, 2007 10:54 AM

Wow, guys. Abe saw the soundcheck.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2007 10:55 AM

WOWOWOWOWW ... I was blown away last night. Amazing show, so much energy.

I was also going to post that the Bjork/Antony duet was one of the best show moments ever ... you had to have been there. It was really powerful.

Posted by Kris | May 3, 2007 11:23 AM

wow guys, anonymous has no balls....

Posted by abe | May 3, 2007 11:38 AM

such a great show. if only that hot chick from au revoir simone came out for some backup vocals...

Posted by drew | May 3, 2007 12:28 PM

Amazing show, but, didn't anybody else think the sound was terrible? All I could hear were the subs.

Posted by jorgen | May 3, 2007 1:33 PM

Jorgen, I COMPLETELY agree with you on the bad sound. did you notice how she finally told them to turn down the electronics on the last song? a bit late. the subs drowned out the brass section, but her pristine voice was able to cut right through the mix thankfully.

konono No. 1 were garbage. an audio abortion. I think the applause they recieved was only to celebrate their exit. crap from start to finish.

lady b was adorable, I want to hire her to prepare my breakfast.

how are you guys getting the .rar file to work? 0.0kb is all I'm seeing...

Posted by dc | May 3, 2007 5:32 PM

You have to extract/convert the file with WinRar or ExtractNow or something.

Posted by christina | May 3, 2007 5:36 PM

forgive me for being dense, but how do you extract anything from 0kb worth of bundled data?

Posted by dc | May 3, 2007 5:49 PM

sorry, I missed that at the end. I have no idea what's up with the 0kb. It downloaded fine for me.

Posted by christina | May 3, 2007 6:22 PM

Hey sorry it died, here's a re-up.

Would have loved to hear Hunter, Bachelorette and Hyperballad but all in all a great show.A little on the short side however. I did enjoy her show more at Keystone though.
