We cannot announce the bands in advance, but venues include McCarren Pool, Central Park SummerStage, Keyspan Park, Highline Ballrooom, Madison Square Garden, Roseland Ballroom & The Town Hall. It's a great selection of Other Music's favorite artists and top sellers.

why do you have to be 21? thats gay. I look 21 do you think if I go there, they wont necesarily ask for ID?

Posted by Daniil | May 17, 2007 2:19 PM

probably since its sponsored by absolut...

Posted by Anonymous | May 17, 2007 2:26 PM

Will they be giving away Absolut?

Posted by froggy | May 17, 2007 2:38 PM

Let's not use "gay" as a synonym for bad, mkay?

Posted by I am gay | May 17, 2007 2:43 PM

That's awesome they're giving away free tickets. It sucks not being 21 yet though. Speaking of free tickets, go here to try and win some to see the excellent mister Andrew Bird! If you haven't heard him yet, you def need to check him out.

does Eduardo work for Other Music?

Posted by Anonymous | May 17, 2007 2:55 PM

Absolut was giving out $4 Metrocards at the Bedford L stop on Wed too. Looks like their targeting the indie kids.

Posted by dave | May 17, 2007 3:01 PM

if they want the indie kids they shouldnt hand out tix/metrocards in the burg they should hand out handles of their shitty vodka there.

Posted by marketing guru | May 17, 2007 3:10 PM

you might need to be 21 because they're randomly giving away tickets to events and some/all could be 21+.

Posted by do the math | May 17, 2007 3:36 PM

or the fact that absolute cant give away promotional items to folks under 21 years of age.

Posted by drunky mcdrunkstein | May 17, 2007 3:48 PM

I got one of those metro cards and was very pleased.

Posted by Anonymous | May 17, 2007 3:52 PM

From Other Music: Tickets will definitely be given out promptly at 12pm. Please be courteous to the neighbors or it will get shut down.

Posted by Anonymous | May 17, 2007 4:15 PM

why is it so hard for kids to get a fake i.d.? i don't accept "i'm not 21 yet" as an excuse for whining about age restrictions because i and everyone else i knew had a fake i.d. back in the day.

Posted by powkang | May 17, 2007 4:22 PM

so now i can't use gay to mean bad? what's next, not being able to call my friends niggas? or when i get my free tickets i can't say "i really jewed the crap out of other music and that shitty vodka." it's a slippery slope and all of a sudden we won't be able to mock orientals for having small cocks and studying hard. please! stop being such an bigot bigot, it's mad gay.

Posted by Anonymous | May 17, 2007 4:29 PM

anything coming up at keypsan park besides daft punk?

Posted by Anonymous | May 17, 2007 4:32 PM

Will I be able to pick from the different shows for which they have tickets or will I have to accept whatever they give me? 'Cuz MSG sucks!

Posted by Picky | May 17, 2007 4:36 PM

I always thought when something was gay it meant a happy time...

Fred Flinstone used to have a Gay Old Time every week! Barney too! In fact they seemed to be gaying together all the time....sometimes wilma and betty would get gay too!

Post 9-11 world. You can't find a fake ID anywhere. The Koreans won't even risk the 400k fine and jail time these days.

I called Other Music, it is this sunday at Noon.

Posted by erik | May 18, 2007 2:22 PM

Actually the poster above is wrong. I actually just came from other music. The ticket giveaway is SUNDAY MAY 27TH. They have 300 pairs of tickets to give away so there will be plenty. No need to line up for hours before.
Anyway once again TICKET GIVEAWAY IS SUNDAY MAY 27TH and not this sunday the 20th.

TICKET GIVEAWAY IS SUNDAY MAY 27TH.

According to their website its THIS Sunday, the 20th, and they do update their site frequently. I copied/pasted this:

CONCERT TICKET GIVE-AWAY THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday, Other Music, Giant Step and Absolut will be partnering to give away 100 pairs of tickets to some of this summer's hottest concerts. We mistakenly listed two conflicting dates in our Update, but it is indeed May 20th. Tickets will be distributed one pair per customer, first come, first served, starting at 12 noon. You must be 21+ with government issued ID to participate.

Since its 2am, I guess I'll email them just to make sure.

no fake ids past 9/11? the terrorists have won.

Posted by powkang | May 19, 2007 9:49 AM

The selection was pretty decent:

Feist, Lily Allen, Peaches, Decemberists, Built To Spill + Cat Power, White Stripes, Sonic Youth, Daft Punk

I didn't expect any good shows, and since I was already going to be in the area, I stopped by just casually. Even getting there after noon, you were able to get tickets. All that were left when I got there was Decemberists.

If anyone wants to trade 1 Daft Punk ticket for 2 Decemberists, let me know.

Posted by Daft Punk | May 20, 2007 5:19 PM

I got there at 10:30 and was able to get any ticket of my choice.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2007 7:26 PM

were the white stripes tix GA?

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2007 8:07 PM

white stripe tix were not GA, but they were pretty good. very close... row A in the 100s.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2007 10:21 PM

I was first on line and had 2 of my friends with me. We got there around 9:45am. Other people started showing up at 10:15am. I called 2 other friends who live in the area when people started showing up. So i basically got tickets to every show i wanted. Great Day. White Stripes tickets were the least available tickets. They were much more than pretty good as the above poster said. They are house seats they give to vip's. Right next to the stage.
Thanks BV for the heads up.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2007 10:36 PM

Yeah, thanks BV. This was great - I'm going to two shows I wouldn't normally have paid for but am really looking forward to.
