I'M FROM BARCELONA add Brooklyn show + some BLONDE REDHEAD videos from "23"

Tickets are on sale for an August 6th I'm From Barcelona show at Southpaw in Brooklyn. It's one day after they open for Blonde Redhead at McCarren Pool. New Blonde Redhead videos below...

"Top Ranking"

This is the official video for the song "Top Ranking" off of Blonde Redhead's seventh album, "23". Directed by Mike Mills and featuring Miranda July.

"23"

This is the first video for the title track (and soaring opener) of Blonde Redhead's new album, '23'. The video was directed by Melodie McDaniel.

I'm From Barcelona's only other announced U.S. date is Lollapalooza at the moment. Same with Blonde Redhead actually.

Went to the show at McCarren Pool today. Can somebody tell me why it is that a band that's willing to fly 21 people from Europe to create a full, fun sound (I'm From Barcelona) has second billing to a trio that is too fuckin' lame to hire a keyboard player let alone a bassist, both sounds being audible only through recorded backing tracks? Even the percussion was obviously augmented with tape. And the audience was lapping it up. I'm not saying Blonde Redhead's music was bad, but is the hipster generation so artificial that they a show that's 50% iPod is considered a live performance? Sad, sad, sad.

I was at the McCarren show too, and I assure you I wasn't "lapping up" Blonde Redhead at all. Some of the backing vocals were pre-taped too. Not a terrible show, but really disappointing.

i didn't stay for the blond redheads. i'm from barcelona were super awesome though so i went home after them completely happy. i only went to see them anyway. i got there around 3:30 and the line to get in was ridiculous, i've never seen anything like that in my life. i felt like it was 1999 and i was going to see nsync. i can't imagine what it'll be like with the thermals and ted leo next week.

I enjoyed both bands yesterday, and in different ways. I'm from Barcelona was dynamic. Very fun to watch. Blonde Redhead was focused. Very fun to listen. Perhaps I would feel differently if I had paid for the show, but in general I had a great time (and stayed for the full 5 or 6 hours). I would have enjoyed The Coydogs more if they hadn't kept the PA system so loud.
