LCD Soundsystem played Studio B & Webster Hall

I just woke up from a much-needed nap that was the result of non-stop moving that went something like: LCD @ Studio B --> not-much-sleep --> family --> Monday blogging. Now I feel better, so it's time to say that, once again, LCD brought the house down (@ Studio B Saturday night)....

How was Webster Hall?
I never saw Studio B that packed - especially when LCD started (an hour after they were supposed to start which made it impossible for me to get to Manhattan to also see Dan Deacon) - it was PACKED. I started in the back, but eventually made my way up front where the dance floor resembled a mosh pit. My clothes quickly turned from dry to (sw)wet.
James made two things very clear:
1) He was drunk
2) The three songs at the end were not an encore. They were merely LCD Soundsystem going upstairs for a short break to ensure that they/he do/does not puke on stage.

James Murphy is my idea of Super Man...
One who is fat and likes good music...

LCD are incredible. I took all my friends to that show and it's our best show ever all together.
Does anybody know the name of that song James was singing like screaming sometimes? I think it was right before the encore. Don't quite remember... there wasn't that much opportunity to pay attention... just dance!

Just got back from the show at Webster Hall... Extremely high energy amongst the crowd for a Monday in Manhattan these days, and a F*ckin amazing show all around. The place was utterly packed, with each member of the crowd writhing in unison like so many of James Murphy's mucuous membranes after railing the endless key bumps backstage that he must have needed in order to keep up that level of arythmia inducing break beats. A very intense Someone Great and a beautiful New York I Love You to close out the tour. Not shirt or eye in the place...especially with this being the guitarist's last show with LCD.

webster was great, although the bass felt like it was going to tear my body in half.

No, another song... haven't figured it out. I haven't found it on any album nor as a B-side for any single. Anyone have Saturday's set list?

The crowd at Studio B was filled with some real low life scumbags.
I go to a ton of concerts and I've never experienced what was going on there. Someone opened my bag in the middle of the show a ton of my stuff went missing. What's the world coming to that you can't watch a show in peace?
Some pretty terrible examples of humanity were circulating there.

did they play "sound of silver" at either of these? i remember at the bowery shows they played every song off the new album but that one. made me sad because i was really hoping to hear it live.

It was overcrowded, but Girl Talk there was even more so.

that song was joy division cover wasnt it?? no love lost?? i dunno-- i was drunk too

The "screaming" song after "Yeah" was, if I am not mistaken, the house classic "Throw," originally recorded by Paperclip People (aka Carl Craig).

Us V Them / Daft Punk Is Playing At My House / Time To Get Away / North American Scum / All My Friends / Get Innocuous! / Tribulations / Watch The Tapes / Movement / Yeah // Someone Great // Give It Up // New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down
had a great time at the showwwww! i think lcd/the faint/the rapture should tour together!

the live version of get innocuous is so fucking good.
lcd is the only band worth caring about these days.

That's the song! Paperclip People's Throw. Thank you.

If LCD played Webster Hall every night, it would be my new favorite venue! They were completely insane, and what's not to love about a thirty-something year old man with a paunch getting down like tomorrow will never come. Every song was a highlight, but "Yeah" made me (and from what I could see, the rest of the place) lose our collective shit.
Anyone know whether the guitarist touring with them is also in Hot Chip? He looked awfully familiar . . .
Posted by josh | May 15, 2007 9:56 AM
Yes, that is indeed Al Doyle of Hot Chip. And yes, even the horrid Webster Hall would be wonderful if LCD played there every night.
Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2007 11:00 AM
Is it just me or does Studio B get nauseatingly hot.
There were a few times I had to resist puking from the heat.
Sad to see the hot chip guy go...he was great.
Posted by Pukey | May 15, 2007 11:21 AM
yeah, studio b was NASTY hot. i hated to have to get out of the action mid-set, but i feel like my clothes would have disintegrated if i hadn't.

reporting from DC:
LCD's show sunday night was also awesome, although the "encore" was only one song (probably due to the previous nights festivities.
That being said, we also saw !!! last night and they blew the roof off the place 10 times more than lcd did. i think they play bowery wed. MUST SEE. i think i almost died. seriously.

Posted by lawns | May 15, 2007 12:10 PM
Here's the set list from Webster Hall: US v Them, Draft Punk, Time To Get Away, NA Scum, All My Friends, Get Innocuous, Tribulations, What The Tapes, Movement, Yeah...Someone Great, No Love Lost, NY I Love You
Posted by Dave | May 15, 2007 1:27 PM
they did not play 'no love lost' at webster hall...it was the carl craig cover

I'm looking forward to the !!! show at Studio B after seeing LCD. Plus, the opener of that show is Maserati. If you haven't seen those guys play before, they will blow your mind.
Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2007 1:58 PM
I can't believe LCD haven't fired their crappy monitor engineer by now. Bowery, Studio B, and Webster all had tech issues, mic feedback etc. No reason that should keep on happening every show!

i don't want to agree with the comments about !!!, but i do. they KILLLLLLLLLED at coachella. i thought i was going to have a heart attack from the excitement and intensity of intensify. EVERYONE was jumping and screaming and it was amazing.
i love lcd so much, but as far as going apeshit for a band, !!! takes the cake (that friday bowery show came pretty damn close, though).
