I always mean to post some love for chef, Post Punk Kitchen TV personality and author Isa Chandra Moskowitz (another "Brooklyn Vegan")...

Vegan Vengeance

Even LargeHearted Boy beat me to this, and he's neither from Brooklyn nor Vegan (he does contribute to this Brooklyn Vegan site though, so I indirectly don't feel as bad).

What prompted this now then?

Well - as previously reported, NY Magazine is throwing six *hip* events - a series called "New York by New York". The first one was Of Montreal karaoke. The next one: VEGAN DINNER WITH MAN MAN. Man Man is playing (at a secret location in Manhattan), and Isa is cooking an 8-part meal. Wow Wow.

Tickets go on sale today. I think they're $30, but they include the food and drinks. There will only be 250 tickets too (about the capacity of Mercury Lounge?).

Man Man is currently out on tour with Modest Mouse. I didn't go to either NYC show. How were they? Shelves of Vinyl says...

Their set consisted mostly of material from their latest album "Six Demon Bag" and it was damn good (if you don't own this album I suggest getting it....it's definitely different but something to be enjoyed). I would say the fact that they had some people out of their seats getting down to the music was a good sign considering it seemed that 97% of that audience was there for Modest Mouse.
Check out Isa's Vegan Vengeance cookbook, her cupcake cookbook, videos of her TV show, and her gothamist interview.

"at a secret location"

The date is a secret (so far), too. WTF?

And there's a limit of one ticket per purchaser? I'm interested in this, but I don't want to go to a dinner party where strangers would try to strike up conversations with me.

How many subscriptions to NY Mag are we all going to have by the end of these events?

hey guys -

I'm helping produce the event for New York magazine, i just wanted to let folks know that we're going to put the tix on sale at/around 3:00pm.

Also, I wanted to thank Man Man for agreeing to play this show, they are driving 12+ hours direct from Knoxville or something to make this show.

Okay, so check the site around 3pm... take care everyone.

My mom is Dead.

She got hit by a truck delivering veggies to an organic market.

See why I hate Vegans so much?

Any truth there will be Foie Gras (aka Dear Chicago) served up with White Truffles? The truffles being the obligatory, fungal vegan content?

What about sweetbreads?

And, will Anthony Bourdain be making an appearance?

I am jealous you people even get to buy tickets. I would kill to attend this dinner. (not really KILL because killing's not usually vegan..)

A friend sent me a DVD of the very first episode of PPK right after it was aired, and I was hooked (and started spreading the Isa love). Her cookbooks are great combinations of recipes, activism and humor, even to a non-vegetarian (but more and more responsible eater) like me.

When is this? I cannot buy a ticket to something I don't know I can make it or not.

follow the link above - it's may 23rd at 730pm but the space isn't announced yet - I think it's the day after man man finishes up with modest mouse.
