anyone know who that crazy psycho guy in the front was last night clapping off beat and yelling at Matt and Erin for the entire show?? He should be castrated.

I don't get Shara. Her singing reminds me of Ute Lemper.

what time have the openers gone on?

Posted by matt | May 31, 2007 11:25 AM

I was next to that dancing douchebag for My Brightest Diamond, he was pulling that same crap. Had a few words with him, than a made a point to not be near him for the National.

I was standing right next to that dude last night. Who cares? He was having a good time. Didn't make my experience any less enjoyable.

Although I did find it weird that he and his girlfriend left halfway through the last song ("About Today").

Alas, I guess we should all be silent drones when we go to concerts for fear of being flamed on blogs like this.

doveman went on a few minutes after 9 i believe on Tuesday. so i'd expect 9pm for others.

i appreciated that guys energy, but his crazy clapping ruined a lot of the slower songs. i mean who tries to clap and pogo to about today?

While do people complain about concertgoers dancing at shows?

It's ridiculous.

that dude was awesome.
he was irritating the band. it was difficult to stay on beat with him putting his own beat to songs.
i have never seen anybody with less rhythm than him.
amazing.

Posted by kimani | May 31, 2007 12:23 PM

yeah - it's one thing to be enthusiastic - this guy was annoying the band with off beat clapping and screaming from the front row - it was an amusing sight

Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:33 PM

He was irritating. The show was absolutely amazing and that guy was pissing all over it. I've never heard clapping so loud from a single person. What he lacked in rhythm, he made up for in enthusiasm.

I'm all for dancing and having a good time, but that guy was disruptive.

Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:43 PM

Disruptive audience members are a problem. Dancing and showing enthusiasm is one thing, but making a scene, which apparently this guy was doing, just sucks.

Black Angels at the Mercury Lounge back in April, on top of having bad sound, had a guy like that. He was wasted and kept headbanging and falling backwards on everyone.

And sorry about the triple post earlier. ;)

In summary, dancing and having fun at a show - Good.

Clapping out of beat (especially during slow songs) and distracting the singer - Bad.

how was the broken west?

you guys have this down to a real science.

Hey i was at that show and i remember that moron. i was right in back of him for a little bit
but you have no idea what you are talking about with the bad sound comment. They sounded great. That show was awesome
You probably have never heard the band before and not used to their "low end" sound

Yeah, that guy was a mess.

I've seen the Angels before that show, and their "low end" sound worked much better that time. Dude - the sound was muddy and the feedback was a mess. The Black Angels are loud and fuzzy live, but not sloppy. Vocals were completely buried for the first 2 songs, until an audience member screamed so, and then the vocals were raised but the feedback got worse.

Regardless, it was a good show.

So, you're that other moron. No, they didn't 'sound great'. This isn't a slight against the band themselves, but the low-end you're talking about was like diarrhea. I saw them at Knitting Factory and it utterly rocked. The songs were crystal clear and rocked hard. At Mercury Lounge, the sound was so annoyingly muddied with feedback, we were unable to distinguish one instrument from one another. You couldn't hear the vocals, which are an integral part of their sound, as well. It took me a couple of days of reflection to realize that the show really did suck, sound-wise. The Angels rule. The Mercury Lounge doesn't.

Anonymous: You should really go to more shows cuz if you think that 'sounded great' then you should just stay home and listen to your iPod.
