private DANIEL JOHNSTON show tonight - WIN TIX (or DVD)
DOWNLOAD: Daniel Johnston - Impossible Love (MP3)

Sorry for the last minute notice on this one. Daniel Johnston is playing a private acoustic performance tonight in SOHO in NYC (May 23). The event, which will also have some of Daniel's artwork on display, runs from 7-9 pm. It's invite-only, but I have two pairs of tickets to give away to two people who email BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM right now (subject: Daniel) and tell me what famous rocker wore a Daniel Johnston t-shirt during his performance at the 1992 Video Music Awards? Include your first and last name for the guestlist. Two winners will be picked at random at 4:15 pm (today - May 23) and emailed the location.
If you can't make the show, I also have one copy of "the Devil and Daniel Johnston" DVD to give out. Just mention in the email that you want the DVD instead of the tickets.
This will also actually be Daniel's second private NYC performance on this tour. I heard he played a conference room on the afternoon before the Warsaw show.
Oh, and in case you were wondering - Daniel has not been in NYC since last week. In fact, he just arrived back to NYC from Europe today. While there he played 3 shows in the UK (including ATP), and one in Belgium. For a guy who just recently couldn't travel at all, he's really turned around.

I saw Daniel in Manchester, England on Monday. One of the most wonderful, special, lovely experiences I've ever had. He was friendly, talkative and full of life and performed one of the most charismatic, joyful and heartbreaking shows I've ever seen.
His set was in 3 sections, a solo bit, a bit backed by Jeffrey Lewis and Adem which included some fairly experimental renditions of songs, including one performed entirely on little hand bells, and a third section with a straight out rock n roll band.
Totally lovely.

"Castanets with Sufjan in the band do not = Sufjan"
Sounds like a guy who did was not able to get into this show. Plus i also heard Sufjan is going to play solo as well as with Castanets but they did not advertise that for obvious reasons.

"Sounds like a guy who did was not able to get into this show. Plus i also heard Sufjan is going to play solo as well as with Castanets but they did not advertise that for obvious reasons. "
wrong. Sufjan shows up at every Castanets show, just like he shows up at every Asthmatic Kitty-related show.
get a life

The answer to the quiz was scott stapp.
Scott stapp is a famous rocker who is known for loving daniel johnston.
Stapp once famously ate some burgers with johnston and played an acoustic duet with him about god and man and law.

Didn't Daniel Johnston spout some anti-semitic words at a concert not long ago?

"wrong. Sufjan shows up at every Castanets show, just like he shows up at every Asthmatic Kitty-related show.

Actually this is a completely false statement, He does not show up at every Castanets show as i have seen them before and unless he was some kind of ghost he was not there. I have also been to a number of Asthmatic Kitty-related shows and he was not there either. But i guess if you were right and you could see him play at every one of these shows then this one would have not sold out as quick as it did.
Go Away you disgruntled fool.Your bitterness at not getting in is so obvious.

why are we even talking about Sufjan? Does anyone other than 16 year old girls care about this douche?

"Go Away you disgruntled fool.Your bitterness at not getting in is so obvious."
Your excitement at getting in somewhere that others can't is both pathetic and hilarious at the same time. This is especially true considering the show in question.

Seems like this person is more excited at the fact that a loser like yourself is so upset about not being able to go which from what you write seems justified.

hey fuckholes, stop getting into sissyfights over my irrelevance.

obvious reason = it didn't happen.

The show was fantastic nontheless, Castanets are terrific, and being 3 feet from Sufjan just made it even better.
