SMASHING PUMPKINS playing 17 residency shows, LOW opening for WILCO
This week in shows-that-have-already,-or-will-sell-out-very-quickly news....
* Low touring with Wilco
* Pumpkins Plan Residencies In Asheville, San Fran
Smashing Pumpkins' only scheduled NYC-area show is still Live Earth.
Earlier this year Billy Corgan was seen hanging out with his friend Courtney Love who was definitely looking very plastic-surgeryey....

asheville's become and been a hipster enclave of its own; it's always been wealthy and artsy, so to speak.
but other than its natural beauty and affluent residents and clientele, they've opened their iron gates to the world, in what would appear to be an effort to be known for more than, say, the "southern berkshires" or "dixie rhinebeck."
and, let's face it - the revenues for the town are nice.
on that note, that's likely why el corgan chose that spot: his residential (talk about even more pretense!) payday will be a return to bountiful, and has quasi-hipster cred.
imo, he could've had that by playing either davidson college, or in boone.
ymmv.
with all due, this SP reunion is about as exciting as the police reunion. both of which, for me, means, neither here nor there. one is better off going to hear elvis costello play his greatest hits.

Fuck me...I'm going to the Asheville area, and leaving on July 4 to boot. What's next, Continental is gonna make me sit next to clay face Courtney in coach?
The good news is that I'll be in the woods, miles away from the tight curl baseball cap crowd.
