BV inquired:
"Did anyone go see Patti Smith at Bowery Ballroom?"
RNRRENEGADE replied:
Yes, I attended Show 2-of-3, Patti and band (among others, Lenny Kaye, and Patti's son backed her up -- and, per Patti, Tony Shanahan was married and presumably on his honeymoon and thus, was not at the gig) were both acoustically glorious. And, she tossed in a couple of bones for the dawgs in the house, by playing two non-album tracks (both audience requests, which without, would have otherwise resulted in an attempt to resurrect - since Patti was unhappy with it - an earlier performance of Past Time Paradise): the tracks being, Lou's Perfect World, and her own & Lenny's, Free Money.
Here's the setlist, w/personal commentary and general observations -- I'm certain someone here will chime-in, correct etc.:
SETLIST:
Everybody Wants to Rule the World: A pleasant surprise (i.e. it worked.)
Helpless: Very good, obvious relevance, even if tried but true by almost all.
Soul Kitchen: A song she admittedly doesn't (or didn't) like, but recorded due to karmic series of coincidences (she dreamt about it; her local sanitation crew was blasting it from their vehicle's radio), aka very superstitious.
PERFECT DAY (Lou Reed): Man, oh, man - was this glorious.
FREE MONEY (Patti Smith / Lenny Kaye): Awesome. Simply, always awesome.
Smells Like Teen Spirit: HFS. Yup.
Overall, a humourous, engaging, charming, and mesmerizing Patti (as usual) singing the gestalt of the times, and a wonderful celebration of her as an interpreter, as well as of the music she holds dear to her own heart. Kudos to Columbia Records, for giving the lady her due.

I'd (also) meant to write ZEITGEIST, but gestalt isn't unlike salt & pepper, in that, they go together.
But y'all already knew this much :)
