They Might be Giants - 2007 Tour Dates (4 nights @ Bowery)

They Might be Giants @ Terrace F Club, NJ (CRED)
They Might Be Giants

I realize it's much easier for the band logistically - they don't need to set up and take down their equipment multiple times, and it probably sounds cooler ("FOUR OR FIVE SOLD OUT NIGHTS IN A ROW") - but sometimes, especially for local bands - I wish they would space out their multiple-nights-at-the-same-venue shows. LIKE THIS:

i was there for the 11:30 set... they were great. really intimate too, played a lot of the new stuff but some old ones as well. overall good time.

does anyone know if the bowery shows are all just standard shows, or if they're going to have themes (only old songs, only new songs, etc), a la their residencies in the past?

i was at the pub shows. the first one was great with the deranged millionaire, john hodgman (the PC guy from the Mac commercials, for all not in the know) opening up the show complaining about tmbg. it made for hilarity. the second show was awesome because they played turn around, which i have not seen in quite some time.
i am psyched for the bowery shows.

Update on the shows' themes:

First show = non-specific
Second show = 80's songs
Third show = 90's songs
Fourth show = kid songs

Simon,

Can you confirm these dates with a link? I would love to go to the 80's show but I have tickets for the police on Aug 1...I heard the third show was the 80's show. IF that is the case I am there and am selling my Police ticket.

Thanks!

Craig,
I was there last night and it sounded like next week is 90s, and the following week (aug 1st) is 80s. Last night was pretty awesome, although I would've loved to have seen them play more of their early stuff. I'll have pictures from last night up on my website later tonight.

Is there a link confirming which shows were which. In heard the 3rd show was the 80's one and just want to make sure! Thanks!

Sorry for the double post! Jonny thanks for the update! It will help me make the tough decision to sell my 6th row Police ticket! :)

Shit, yeah, I screwed up the order. Here it is straight from TMBG's Myspace bulletin:

"Every NYC show will be quite different. Show 2 will dwell on songs from the 90s, show 3 will look to the 80s and will feature the Velcro Horns. Show 4 is offically a kid song spotlight, but since it's over 16 only, there might be swear words too."

I stand corrected.

No problem..I just wanted to make sure I was going to the 80's show. Don't get me wrong their 90's stuff is great but they rarley play 80's stuff these days and I am all over that!

:)

I'm with you Craig. I loved that they played a variety last night, and the new songs are great, but nothing compared to when they played the classics liked "Birdhouse" and "Turn Around".
I'd kill to see them play Apollo 18 in it's entirety.

I was very fortunate to catch 1 of only 2 performances of Appolo 18 back in 2003?? at Joe's Pub and it was phenomenial. I also caught a Flood show back in 2001 which was equally as good! A John Henry show would keep me smilling for weeks as would a Self titled or Lincoln show! I'm excited and hope everyone else has as much fun as I will!
