I'm assuming it's free, as it's on a Sunday...
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 7:54 AM
WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE BUY THE BRIGHT EYES TICKETS FOR TONIGHT RELEASED ON TICKETMASTER ALREADY.
Please stop them from torturing me any longer. They've been up for so long. Thanks.

yes, free
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 8:32 AM
Wow, this year's lineup is great so far! TVOTR, Ted Leo, and Blonde Redhead....and there's STILL two unannounced free Sunday shows!
Posted by Eric | May 31, 2007 8:38 AM
same night as rock the bells - blahhhh
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 8:43 AM
Great, I was hoping for performers that I don't care for since now I can leave town for a weekend getaway.
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 9:00 AM
Anonymous 9:00AM - you are seriously musically deprived if TV on the Radio is an artist that you "don't care for."
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 9:12 AM
Woah... that last comment was so insightful - thanks for opening up that window and letting us all peak into the awesomeness that is your life!

I hate when comments deteriote into arguments over music...
I'm excited for TVOTR, some people may not be, it's all good.

TVOTR is basically prog rock. no hipper than YES.
Posted by ron | May 31, 2007 9:24 AM
Wait, are you saying Yes..isn't hip?
Posted by Ryan | May 31, 2007 9:45 AM
I'm not hip?
Posted by Jon Anderson | May 31, 2007 9:46 AM
tv on the radio is funky psychadelic rock sex.
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 9:53 AM
I have said it before and I will say it again...TOTR is the worst live show I have ever seen...perhaps because the album is bad? I tell ya what, how about they pay me $75 dollars to come see them?

"tv on the radio is funky psychadelic rock sex."

Hell yes to that.

I am the 9:00 commenter. I should have added a smiley to the end of my comment, but I find smileys a bit childish. I wanted to joke around the fact that I can't leave town because of all these great concerts, but now I can because I don't like TOVTOR.
Yes, I said it: I do not like TVOTR. Personally I don't get the attraction to this band, but more power to those who do. Listened to both albums, saw them live once in concert, nothing. My problem with them is that the drummer is BORING. Lifeless rhythms. I really want the music to pick up and catch some fire, but the drummer holds them back. That said, see everyone at the other shows!
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 10:16 AM
how do you people have time to come on a website and heckle a band? hypocrisy at it's finest: taking a minute out of your life to put something negative out in the world about something people other than you enjoy is more or less the inverse of creating something. you're a waste of life. please get off these boards. go scalp tickets or something. asshat.
Posted by fek | May 31, 2007 10:23 AM
hey, go fek yerself.
Posted by ron | May 31, 2007 10:33 AM
fek - relax. 80% of message boards are full of people complaining. If we all just agreed on everything and posted "positive" messages, then we'd all be bored and no one would post anymore.
I really dig some of TVOTR's songs, but have found them to be a massive snoozefest live in the past. That being said, I'm happy to check them out for free in case things have changed...
Posted by CN | May 31, 2007 10:34 AM
Wow, fek -- I didn't realize that message boards are only used to write good, positive things, and that you aren't allowed to express any other kind of opinions or criticisms. That's, like, so 1st Amendment and shit of you. Right on! And it's almost 4th of July, too!
I don't really care what other people think about TVOTR one way or the other, or what they think about what I think about TVOTR. But we're all allowed to think it, or...uh? No?
Posted by mod | May 31, 2007 10:53 AM
TVOTR is the best band in town. plain and simple.
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 11:00 AM

i feel i must post in light of 10:01 am's comment, because i wouldn't want anyone who wants to see them be put off. i, too, go to lots and lots of shows. this band is probably THE best live band out there right now. in my opinion, that is.
honestly man, if you don't like their music, why would you buy tix in the first place?
Posted by captain obvious | May 31, 2007 11:38 AM
fuck yeahhhhhh
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:00 PM
In response to captain obvious...I've seen TVOTR at a few festivals and as an opener. Never paid to see them headline cause I was never interested enough to pay for it, but that is one reason why people that don't like their music have seen them before. Maybe they are totally different as a headliner? But after seeing them a few times, I would classify them as an average live band (at best) and found them to be boring despite having some good tunes.
Posted by CN | May 31, 2007 12:01 PM
Hey captain not-obvious...let me get this right...TOTR is the best live show you have ever seen?? You totally have the right to your own opinion, I just wanted to make sure I read that right. But I must ask, have you only seen two shows? Were they TOTR and 30 second to Mars?? If those were my choices, I guess I would say TOTR is the best live show also...
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:06 PM
And when I saw them it was free also, maybe they are better when they get paid to play, do they get paid??
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:09 PM
The Who playing Young Man Blues at the Isle of Wight 1970. Now that's a rock n' roll performance!
Posted by Denny | May 31, 2007 12:13 PM
...anyway. this is going to kick so much ass, as anyone who saw them last summer at prospect park can attest to. if you don't like them, totally fine, you're completely entitled to your opinion, and thanks in advance for not coming. :)
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:13 PM
what elements compose the "worst live show...ever"?
I am curious...
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:14 PM
I just felt that they were a bad live show for the following reasons...
a.) No stage presence
b.) Mediocre Music
c.) Crowd looked like they were falling asleep
d.) They arent the get up kids(95-'05)=greatest live show ever!!!!
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:26 PM
TV on the Radio = playing a cool show at McCarren Pool, tons of fans
you = bashing them anonymously on the internet.
TV on the Radio wins.
Posted by BLAH | May 31, 2007 12:34 PM
no stage presence?
check the photo at the top of the post...he looks pretty into it...
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 12:48 PM
I would totally go just for those 90210 guys.
Does anyone know when tix for The Who at the Isle of Wight in 1970 go on sale? And set times? WHAT TIME DO THEY GO ON IN 1970?
Posted by J | May 31, 2007 12:55 PM
yeah... Tunde has more of a fuckin stage presence than most frontmen out there. that's undeniable.
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 1:00 PM
Uh...the lead singer looks like he's falling asleep in the picture above.
And thanks for declaring something "undeniable". Ha!
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 1:15 PM
it IS undeniable if you've ever actually been to a tvotr show...
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 1:37 PM
I have been to a TVOTR show. It is NOT "undeniable".

Those 90210 twins are actually Brendan and Jackson Kenny of The Forms. I saw the video on Gawker today. The Forms are playing with Takka Takka and The National at the Seaport in August. TV on the Radio for free in my backyard on a Sunday is cool with me...

I've only seen TV on the radio play live one time, at their "secret show" at the Luxx/Trash in Brooklyn. This was maybe 2 years ago and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I think some people are getting sour because of all the hype. I think people get turned off and then want to see them fail. I have that kind of biased attitude about radiohead, so I know where you're coming from. Then again, maybe they're just lukewarm in front of a large audience.
Posted by chad | May 31, 2007 10:58 PM
I saw them at Siren a few years ago. Lackluster. Luckily, there were many other great bands that day.
Posted by Anonymous | May 31, 2007 11:04 PM
hey i know this is a free show, but does anyone know if you need to pick up tix or anything ahead of time? anyone know the door policy etc? how many people this place holds?
Posted by Dave | June 10, 2007 10:47 PM
Anyone know what time this show starts??
