where else can the arcade fire play new york? after selling out radio city in like a second, they can't be going back to hammerstein. i have a feeling this shows gonna be at either keyspan park, msg, or (god forbid) jones beach.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:26 AM
these tickets are gonna be around 45 beans and it will be at central park summerstage im assuming.....
Posted by hahhaha | June 20, 2007 11:27 AM
have you guys ever seen that scene in scanners when that dude's head blew up?
Posted by Wayne Campbell | June 20, 2007 11:33 AM
Sorry for the double post. This show will sell out in seconds anywhere they play under 6,000 capacity!

lincoln center

Actually, two shows: one at PNC, one at Jones Beach. Details coming soon.

Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:41 AM
I've been giddy about this combo since I saw the news last night. I almost don't care about the venue, just seeing both bands on one bill is amazing.
Posted by MP77 | June 20, 2007 11:42 AM
Theater at MSG?
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:42 AM
jones beach...really?
lcd and no alcohol don't really mix. when they opened for the pixies, there was maybe fifty people in the audience, five of whom were dancing.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:44 AM
great graphic to go with this post!
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:46 AM
Maybe Theater at MSG twice.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:47 AM
I talked to their publicist the other night at Albert Hammond, Jr. He said they are looking for a bigger venue than MSG, but when I mentioned Giants Stadium, he said they were looking for something more unconventional. Don't know what that means exactly, but I'm guessing it won't be Central Park or Jones Beach.

free central park show? not summerstage or prospect park - not bandshell --
is that something you might be interested in?
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:54 AM
How bout on the Great Lawn?
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:57 AM
Anyone else annoyed at the fact that you MUST see Lcd in a non-seating arena? That your basically going to want to dance the entire time? I'm psyched yet bummed at the same time, I don't want to be sitting in some seats!
Posted by Romek | June 20, 2007 12:08 PM
i had dinner/drinks with Win and James- just a quite affair and some folks I can't name, it looks like keyspan kids
will allow for GA and seated

The new Arcade Fire sounds like Jofn Cafferty and the Beverbrown Band. Hopefully they are playing the ninth circle of hell at this point.
Yawners. As far as booze goes the LCD people will be on e anyways and the Arcade Fire folks can just enjoy a sleepytime tea.

keyspan park is too small. new york is by far there biggest market, and they're not gonna be playing any venue below 10,000 or even 15,000 people.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 12:20 PM
its madison square garden. ive been trying to tell you for weeks now!
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 12:26 PM
i guess prospect park would just be too awesome.

KEYSPAN!!!
Posted by go keyspan | June 20, 2007 12:40 PM
I hope they don't play NY. Arcade Fire has already played New York 8 times this year.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 1:09 PM
I just hope they play in Chicago or somewhere i can drive in less than 4 hours.
Posted by No Moet No Showet | June 20, 2007 1:23 PM
@anonymous: I've seen them four times this year so far and will see them four more times if I can.
Posted by Benjamin | June 20, 2007 1:38 PM
I was having some eggs benedict with Regine & Richard Perry and they said they're going to rent out Liberty Island and play in the torch of the Statue of Liberty. Should be a good show.
Also, Regine hates her eggs runny.
Posted by matt | June 20, 2007 1:47 PM
It is high, it is far, it will be at... Yankee Stadium.
Posted by drewo | June 20, 2007 2:46 PM
The Arcade Fire are really milking this popularity thing. As much as I like them, I have a feeling that we'll be asking a collective "who?" in a few years.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 3:40 PM
I would pay good money to see them at Liberty State Park. Radiohead's show there is one of my top 5 shows ever. And it's a huge venue.
Right? RIGHT!?!?

Does anyone else think that LCD Soundsystem is just a wee bit overrated? I'm a fan of good tunes, love Arcade Fire, but just can't seem to accept LCD Soundsystem is anything more than a guy sitting with protools in his room without much in the vocals department and not much in the creative composition department either. Daft Punk is Playing At My House is horrendous.
Posted by Lithurgic Crappy Dump | June 20, 2007 4:17 PM
i saw mozart a few year back in the ninth circle of hell...pretty decent show, but the crowd was dead and some idiot forgot to turn on the air conditioning...
other than that, good show...but i've seen better

"Does anyone else think that LCD Soundsystem is just a wee bit overrated? "
no

correction, anon 4:18:
the fillmore at the ninth circle of hell.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 4:24 PM
This is simply amazing.
I agree with the above posts that this has to -just HAS TO- be at a GA venue.
This is not a sitting down type of bill.
Posted by Christopher | June 20, 2007 4:32 PM
They will be playing Nietzsche's Bathtub - they've been really looking forward to using the sound of running water during "Haiti."
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 4:43 PM
randall's island seems to make the most sense for a venue, though liberty state park would make a better venue.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 4:43 PM
Win and Stephon Marbury will be launching the new "Arcade Kicks" line of basketball-stealing shoes at the NYC date, which will be held on the W 4th Street b-ball courts.
James Murphy will also lead a Brazilian shoot-fighting demo, and may actually kill a man while Cornerstone films it for bloggers & YouTube.
Tix available now only through StubHub and secret Starbucks outlets.

LaGuardia Airport, on the tarmac. You can't get more unconventional than that.

How about Jones Beach...ON the beach...not in that horrendous ampitheatre?

i think it will be too cold for an outdoor show by then, although yankee stadium would be amazing. if they're going to do this, they're probably not going to play a show that will sell out in 5 seconds. both bands have done that already multiple times this year and shut out too many fans. even msg is cutting it small, but would be pretty cool.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 5:25 PM
"Does anyone else think that LCD Soundsystem is just a wee bit overrated?"
NO. And listening to their new albums I would say actually that Arcade Fire is the overrated.
Posted by Eduardo | June 20, 2007 5:28 PM
"The new Arcade Fire sounds like John Cafferty and the Beverbrown Band."
That's funny stuff -- and sort of true, in an odd way.
Posted by rnrrenegade | June 20, 2007 5:33 PM
The show is going to be at Continential Airlines Arena in Jersey. MSG is booked when they want to play. I know someone who works with AF.

The John Cafferty comment is totally true. "Keep the Car Running" has the same melody as "On the Dark Side".
LCD is not overrated.

uh, the person who made the lcd is overrated comment probably hasn't heard more than daft punk. truth be told, if that was the first/only lcd song i heard, i probably would think they were overrated, too.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 7:15 PM
is that maxwell's comment a joke?
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 8:33 PM
They'll play Rikers Island and the performance will be recorded for a live album à la Johnny Cash, B.B. King, et al.

Doesn't look like. Just got an email from the Arcade Fire listserv:
---
ARCADE FIRE ANNOUNCE SPECIAL INTIMATE SHOWS IN NEW JERSEY
Earlier today, the band announced two special intimate shows at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ on October 5 and October 6. These shows are not part of the national tour with LCD Soundsystem.
Tickets for these shows are extremely limited and will be available at a limit of 2 per person starting Thursday, June 21 at 8 p.m. EDT on arcadefire.net. Remaining tickets will be made available on ticketweb.com and maxwellsnj.com on Friday, June 22 at 12 p.m. EDT.
To protect our fans, tickets will not be mailed. There will be no physical tickets for either show. Patrons successfully completing orders will be required to produce photo identification and the credit/debit card used for purchase.
An announcement regarding more dates for the national tour with LCD Soundsystem, including dates in the tri-state area, will be forthcoming.

so who thinks ticketweb is gonna crash?
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 9:24 PM
there's nothing about this show anywhere - it's not true.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 9:38 PM
heres why thats fake:
1 - "the tri-state area" like the AF have any idea what that is.
2 - arcdae fire.net is the fan site. presales are at www.arcadefire.tickets.musictoday.com
3 - maxwells does not sell ticket online at their website. Only ticketweb and tunes in hoboken
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:40 PM
we'll see tomorrow. i don't know if it's real or fake, but i could believe everything in the e-mail. for one, arcadefire.net is the official fan site (linked from the "band" site), where they put up press releases and ticket links. i'm guessing they'll link to the musictoday site if it's legit starting tomorrow. and many venues tell you to visit their own site which links to the ticket distributor (in this case, ticketweb).
like i said, we'll find out tomorrow. i'm definitely holding out hope that it's true even though i'm not so hopeful for tickets.
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:51 PM
just checked my email... i have the same one. it seems if you are on the af email list you should have the same thing.
this is gonna be AWESOME!!!!
Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2007 11:53 PM
i got the email too.
if i don't get tickets to this after missing the church shows, i'm going to do something really, really bad.

Yesterday I was at Coney Island and I saw a plane flying by with an ad that read "Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem. NYC. 10/6."
So, they'll play here on October 6. Where? No clue yet.

10/6, NYC??? It's feasible. They're in Ohio on 10/5. I hope you're right. LCD & AF on a Saturday night.....a dream come true. I'm tired of all of these middle of the week shows. I'm too old! Then Of Montreal the next Saturday, makes for a great October.
