Posted by Qbertplaya | June 12, 2007 5:23 PM

Any clues to the presale? These are weekdays, no?

WHY?!

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2007 5:29 PM

Is Mike D a manorexic? What's with the extra face skin? Maybe their next doc should be a fan produced luncheon titled 'I F*ckin' Ate That!'

Posted by TitoP | June 12, 2007 5:30 PM

Beasties @ McCarren is gonna be awesome.
No Sleep 'til McCarren...
Ain't seen the light since we started this band
M.C.A.: get on the mic my man
Born and bred Brooklyn U.S.A.
They call me Adam Yauch but I'm M.C.A.
Like a lemon to a lime a lime to a lemon
I sip the def ale with all the fly women
Got limos, arena, TV shows
Autograph pictures and classy hos
Step off homes get out of my way
Taxing little girlies form here to L.A.
Waking up before I get to sleep
Cause I'll be rocking this party eight days a week
No sleep 'til Brooklyn

yeah three bklyn shows on 8/9 (Beasties, Daft Punk, and the free Hold Steady show) that will all be packed in their respect. don't think anyone is going to be in manhattan that day.

Posted by pdiddy | June 12, 2007 5:37 PM

It's all part of a greater plan my hipster friends:

All of these bands will unite and together with their audiences they will march to Portland to destroy the evil Colin Meloy!

Posted by Peach on Earth | June 12, 2007 5:44 PM

This has me very excited. But I wish Mike D didn't look like Bob Dylan now.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2007 5:48 PM

wow. i am retarded. 9 = september. christ. i need to leave work

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2007 5:50 PM

Anon 5:44-
McCarren is actually a nice place to see a show. They had some problems with the beer lines being way too long at first but I had no problems getting nicely sauced at Sonic Youth/YYYs. Plus it's pretty easy to work your way into a good spot.

Posted by will | June 12, 2007 5:56 PM

plus The Cribs at Bowery on 8/9. It's only been announced on their myspace, it's not even on the bowery website yet.

would you say the area is bigger or smaller than summer stage? also, how far away from the stage are you and how high up is the stage? im not crayz about summerstage cause like the stage is 15 feet back and then really high up.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2007 6:20 PM

any word on how much this will be?

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2007 7:31 PM

pre-sale this friday @ 11 am. Public on-sale saturday.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2007 9:30 PM

Alright, someone make w/ the pre-sale password. This venue is big enough to where you can share it with all your BV buddies and still get tix for you and yours.

Posted by Brian | June 12, 2007 10:50 PM

Summerstage is much smaller than McCarren

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 12:08 AM

isnt that Bob Dylan? :)

Password is MIXUP.

Many thanks to BV for all the tip offs.

Posted by LiveJournalIsMyBitch | June 13, 2007 9:07 AM

I can't believe people already took my Bob Dylan comment... I thought it was so clever...

Posted by cornslaw | June 13, 2007 9:52 AM

Thanks for the pw (and to BV for the heads up)

Posted by Brian | June 13, 2007 10:15 AM

I hate to bring up something as ugly as money when we're talking about the Beastie Boys, but does anyone know how much this show will cost?

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 10:34 AM

Philly's $49.50 -- so probably in that range, if not a little higher.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 10:43 AM

I love the beasites, but $50 before ticketmaster fees is nuts. I think I will stand in the park and just listen....unless bad brains opens or someone equally awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 11:15 AM

brooklyn is $49, 50 cents less than philly!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 11:34 AM

All Central Park and McCarren pools shows should be free. Let people that are unemployed have the oppurtunity to sit in line for hours just to get in. It's not fair that these shows are not free.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 11:40 AM

Anyone know if there is gonna be a PIT or whatnot? I'm assumin' these joints are GA, so what's the point of a presale?

Posted by LiveJournalIsMyBitch | June 13, 2007 11:55 AM

the summerstage is $52 and the mccarren show is $49
both ridiculous amounts - especially w/ ticketmaster's "convenience fees" on top.

Ticketmaster actually charges to allow you to print your tickets on your OWN printer.

anyway, summerstage is a shitty venue.

and a friend told me that the beasties were not so good at sasquatch.

okay, enough hating for today

Posted by downtown | June 13, 2007 12:46 PM

Don't forget yer Metamucil, boys!

Posted by Tyrone Shoelaces | June 13, 2007 1:12 PM

Hey downtown,
The Beasties' instrumental set during day 1 of Sasquatch (on the smaller "Wookie" stage) was one of the unexpected (only because I generally prefer their more accessible rap side to their instrumental side but these days I'm not so sure) highlights of the day for me. Unfortunately, we missed their secret show at the Crocodile in Seattle the night before, but from what I heard the setlists were very similar. They played a lot of deep cuts from their albums and a lot of new stuff as well. I reviewed it and you can read it here:

Posted by Matt Berlyant | June 13, 2007 1:25 PM

so pre-sale is TOMORROW or FRIDAY?

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 3:03 PM

very annoying its the same day as daft punk. and the crowes playin central park...anyone up for renting a helicopter?

Posted by martin | June 13, 2007 3:26 PM

Thanks matt. i checked it out. i saw the beasties way back in 87 - "together forever tour" w/ run dmc, and again around 92 for check your head. both were great shows (from what I remember)

but the price for entry on these shows is ridiculous. despite my temptation to see them again

Posted by downtown | June 13, 2007 3:45 PM

At least the Summerstage shows that are ticketed give the money to the park to put on other free events. The ticketed events at McCarren--the money goes to Live Nation, Inc.

Hopefully after this year there will be no more for-profit shows in publically owned venues.

Posted by anonymous | June 13, 2007 5:53 PM

Ticketmaster pre-sale is Friday.

Posted by Anonymous | June 14, 2007 8:35 AM

After the service charges, this is going to wind up being $60+ a ticket. I just can't do that. I've seen their "rapping shows" when they were in their prime, and don't think they can top that these days.

Would much rather see them do the instrumental thing.

Posted by Brian | June 14, 2007 1:09 PM

hooray got my tickets! Expensive as hell but I'm super rich so it doesn't matter.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2007 10:47 AM

Presale password, anyone? BV?

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2007 11:04 AM

Oh, ignore my post, just saw the password. BV, the comments take forever to refresh.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2007 11:06 AM

They just added a Gala Event to August 10 at the Hamemrstien. This one is all instrumental. Nice

Posted by ernesto | August 7, 2007 11:41 AM

Does anyone know if there are openers or maybe what time Beasties Will get on in Brooklyn??? Thanks!

Posted by Craig | August 7, 2007 3:09 PM

JD Samson of Le Tigre and MEN will be spinning from 6PM - 7:30PM tonight at SummerStage. It will be stellar.

Posted by Will | August 8, 2007 5:37 PM

beastie boys in brooklyn was great, they were raised in brooklyn, but never played a concert there before. it was historic.

doors opened at 5:30pm for the security line to get in. the show actually started at around 8:15pm. it was just beastie boys. they ended with no sleep till brooklyn.
