Ben Gibbard punked (MP3) + pic w/ Conor Oberst

DOWNLOAD: Cloak & Dagger radio w/ a Ben Gibbard "ambush interview" (MP3) (info)

Bright Eyes w/ guest Ben Gibbard @ Town Hall, NYC - May 30, 2007 (CRED)
Gibbard & Bright Eyes

Where Conor's hand went after this picture was taken, only those who were there know for sure. (listen to the mp3),

Last night's Bright Eyes guest was Steve Earle. According to one commenter,

...he guested on 4 songs with BEs.

1. God, is Bush horrible or what?
2. I mean come on, he is really horrible, right?
3. Damn remember how much fun we had on the Vote For Change tour Conor?
4. Under Bush the whole world has gone to hell.

Actually I love Steve Earle and would love to see him with BEs but sometimes the above is what his solo shows start to sound like. He is a rocker with amazing knack for writing great songs, he just needs to lay off the heavy politics sometimes.

Ben's "friend" Johnathan Rice was one of Conor's guest a few nights ago.

Previously
BRIGHT EYES' Town Hall residency continues w/ the Little Willies (Norah Jones), Nick Zinner & Ben Gibbard.

Hey I noticed you were into music..so I thought u might be interested in this..

I’m interning at SpiegelWorld and we have two really amazing shows this summer! (South Street Seaport).

ABSINTHE (which completely sold out last year) you probably heard about it or saw it, It’s the acro-burlesque vaudeville show. This year there’s a new cast

There is also LA VIE, which will be a world premiere. Created by a group of former Cirque de Soleil performers (the 7 fingers).

I’m really excited about this, the shows are supposed to be out of this world! There will also be the Green Fairy Garden with a restaurant and bar, private cabanas for parties, a DJ tent, and a bunch of bands that will be playing this summer.

You can get cheap tickets while they last for about $25 the first two weeks. Just go to ticketcentral.com and grab them while you can (reg. $55-$70). If you want to find out more about the shows and everything Spiegelworld has to offer you can go to Spiegelworld.com

I hope to see you there!

Hey BV, that poster above noticed you were into music! You must feel really good about conveying your interests so clearly on this blog...

BRIGHT THIGHS!!!!!!!!!

Too bad you can't ban anonymous commenters. My guess is that stupid political list of "songs" with Steve was a (dumb) joke.

I am a little surprised setlists on this tour have been easier to come by, even on the Saddle Creek msg board.

Should he lay off the politics or speak his mind? Or should he just be mindful of not "ruining" some yuppy fuck's night out on the town by discussing shit that's real.

According to other message boards and blogs I thought the guest on Thursday night was Ron Sexsmith?

Steve Earle too?

stevevol, my guess is if you agree with Steve or Conor (or any artists that gets political), it probably doesn't bother you. If you disagree then it probably does. Even sometimes if I agree with an artist and they go on and on, it gets to be a little much. To each their own.

Ron Sexsmith is/was tonight (friday).

Good point. But I'd rather see an artist focus on something of conviction rather than just appeasing the often vapid crowds at these types of shows. even if i don't agree with them - it's their forum. It's certainly more interesting than talking about what Conor or others were wearing or how "cute" that happened to be.

I think others liked Friday nights show, but for the closer I found it to be somewhat lacking. Yes, Ron Sexsmith and later Brit Daniel (Spoon) were the Special guests. Not too shabby, but I was hoping for Michael Stipe!

So why can someone NOT talk about politics? Why should he lay off the politics? I just don't get this 'our president is a sacred cow' shit. Makes me sick!

BV rocks! Love your blog.
