7/20 is Neko Case for $0.00 at SummerStage
7/21 is Siren Fest for $0.00....sorry Mr. Hutz

..given those choices, I'd rather see Gogol Bordello both nights.

so your saying your no a fan, Matt? why is it that so many are deciding only on money? Jesus and Mary Chain complaints, money, money. This Siren Fest is a crowded awful sound boring.

Music is a matter of the heart, is not?

"why is it that so many are deciding only on money?...Music is a matter of the heart, is not?"

Yes, it is, but not every reader on this site is independently wealthy or a trust fund kid. Shockingly enough, there are still some people around here with limited resources and when that's the case, if you like both, money can be the deciding factor.

That said, my limited resources and I will be at Gogol Bordello Saturday.

Fucking killer. Does anyone know if there is an opening band because I can only be there at like 9 30.Shabbos ends at like 9 11. So yea if anyone knows if there is an opening band, tell me please.

Posted by Daniil | June 5, 2007 9:34 AM

Don't worry, Daniil, I'm sure there will be at least one opener and I feel your pain completely.

"..given those choices, I'd rather see Gogol Bordello both nights."

And pay even more! No brainer, Gogol Bordello any day.

"Yes, it is, but not every reader on this site is independently wealthy or a trust fund kid."

How about something called a JOB? My parents are dirt poor, but I studied in college instead of doing bong hits, and now I make $$$. Very simple. And the concert is only $25.

I have seen GB three times, amazing party each time. Be prepared to dance and sweat. Commenters on BV always complain about how NYC crowds don't dance. Well, it doesn't hold true for GB shows.

I've seen them at Irving before and they were awesome...HUGE energy, lots of coming into the audience, very chaotic. I felt bad because I saw a few crushed cell phones on the floor at the end of the night, though.

forgot to mention I'm already seeing them at Bonnaroo, but thanks for all the haterade, Gil

"7/20 is Neko Case for $0.00 at SummerStage

Wow, you are going to miss a great concert just because you are cheap?

Comparing Neko Case (and the opener of that show, Eric Bachman) to Gogol Bordello is like comparing apples to oranges.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2007 12:31 AM

Ooooooooooh, is this going to be like the Franz vs. Paul thread? Neko / Eugene deathmatch? Bring it!

(Me, I like both.)

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2007 12:35 AM

Irving's site has DJ Scratchy listed as the opener for both nights. I just called the box office and they said Gogol Bordello should go on around 10 PM, so there's no need for the sabbath observers to worry.

And Gogol Bordello's myspace says the following:

Two great opening bands added to the Irving Plaza shows!

Friday: Services (Ex Flux information sciences)

Saturday: The Size Queens. (featuring ex members of Swans, Sonic youth, Heroine Shieks , and Speedball baby)

Be sure to check them out! These are the last remnants of the dying Lower East Side...
