These people camping out for a fucking iPhone are truly pathetic.

camping out for White Stripes tickets > camping out an for an iPhone > camping for Sufjan Stevens tickets?

Why not camp out for the iPhone?
It’s a wonderful new gadget that lets the NSA illegally record all your phone calls, copy all your contacts, keep records of all your web and IM activity, and probably put you in a terrorist no-fly database for listening to Cynthia McKinney singing that stupid Pink song.
You see, to use the iPhone you must sign up with AT&T, the telecom that has been tirelessly working with the National Security Agency’s warrantless wiretapping program.
In Orwell’s future, total government surveillance was a terrible thing that was forced upon the people — just the kind of paranoid bullshit you’d expect from somebody like him. In reality, people actually camp out and pay $600 to be watched around the clock by the government.

i actually work in front of that building as a security guard. i'm friends with the one security guard you see when they go back to check if everyone's alright. wearing the suit and tie. this is in front of the Apple Cube store in front of the GM building at 59th and 5th ave. there tends be a lot of commotion there throughout the day, a lot of video recording. i've never seen anyone pull a stunt like that though, hysterical.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2007 5:22 PM
